This truck is for the person who likes go more than show. As for me I would not change anything about the looks. It took over 40 years for this truck to acquire the scars and personality it has. Usually after I restore one I lose interest but not everyone has the same definition of whats cool. Some people spend a lot of money to make a nice truck look old. Sometimes I take the worst truck with moss inside and grass in the bed, o make the nice ones. That's the whole idea of antique trucks, s to make them your own. The motor is a 460 I took out of another vehicle years ago and don't remember what it came out of, or who built it, ut it runs really well! The motor had a points type distributor so I decided to get a new electronic ignition distributor off the shelf and convert it to electronic ignition. So I got the proper wiring harness needed, n ignition module, ew coil, ord racing 9mm wires, ap and rotor. To monitor all this is an auto meter monster tachometer with shift light and 6,000 RPM chip. Yes you know what I thought next, he stock intake had to go. I looked at my powder coated intake manifolds and decided to go with the Edlebrock street master 460, delbrock valve covers, hrome water neck, RP valve cover studs set, henolic spacer and new Edelbrock electric choke carburetor. We decided to go with Felpro reusable valve cover gaskets. We topped it off with a Ford racing 13 inch air cleaner. Now for fuel delivery. The existing fuel tank was less than desirable, o it was replaced, uel lines changed, nd installed a new fuel pump. A new steel fuel line carries fuel to the carburetor from the fuel pump. We installed a new FL 1A Motorcraft filter and VR-1 20w50 racing oil which still contains zinc necessary for flat tappet cams. We used new L&L header gaskets because they are basically trouble free. There was dual exhaust with flow masters already on the truck. The gear shift linkage was sloppy so we installed new bushings (all better). We also installed kick down linkage for the transmission at the same time. The starter was replaced with a gear reduction starter that is common to 1992 F-250 with a 460. New 78 stock starter just didn't have what it took to crank this motor. We also installed interstate battery and extra heavy duty battery cables and solenoid. The radiator was upgraded and new steel transmission lines installed. The drum brakes on the front were converted to 73-79 disc brakes. The wheel bearings were replaced on the left. The donor truck had new rotor and bearings on the right already. The rear wheel cylinders were replaced. We serviced the vent tube in rear end at the same time we replaced rear rubber brake hose. We also replaced the front rubber brake hoses. Now for the interior. It has an awesome custom maroon and graphite headliner which matches the seat and door panels. It has the chrome trim around headliner and is in excellent shape. While the instrument cluster was out so I could rewire it for electronic ignition and tachometer, replaced the bulbs and insured all lights were working. Yes, t night the speedometer and gauges are lit up like new! The red alternator and red oil pressure lights work properly and bring back memories from long ago. The dome light and red high beam indicator light also function properly. The cab corners and door corners are rust free. There is a small amount of rust starting in the floor board but very minimal. There is a hole in the hood by hood emblem on passenger side. There is a small amount of rust in the bed but not in the side panels. Small hole under battery trey. In short, good body person could repair all the rust on this truck with good metal and still be home for dinner. This truck drives really well, oors shut great and there are no rattles or vibrations in drive train that I have noticed. In short, t is an awesome truck and is very enjoyable as is. Thanks for looking!
