VERY cool original survivor 1968 Camper Special. This truck was in my buddy's family for over the past 20 years. Used on the farm for haulin'. All of the patina is REAL and not faked like the current trand. If you want to go the next step, ive it a quick sand down and clear it. It has a 39, hich starts very easily. Motor sounds great. A little sputtery on the low rpms, ou can tell its due for a tuneup (hasnt had one in ages. plugs, otor, ap, aybe a carb adjustment). Ive owned countless old cars over the years, lease believe me when I tell you this one should tune up just fine !! Only has one body rot through spot on the door, hat Im showing you the size comparison with my hand.
Also, he rear bumper has some rust seperation. Motor is quite clean for the age, ith not a whole lot of oil/grime/grease. Would be an easy power wash if desired. Rims have some surface rust in spots. Tires have excellent tread, ut showing some weather checking in areas from age. I dont see any checking that should affect safety. But for looks, I suggest putting some low-profiles on and dropping it a few inches. I had big plans for this truck when I bought it from Phil, ut we are now moving into a new home, nd I have to clear out my collection of "some day" and "when I get around to it(s)" projects ha !
This was Phil's daily driver. He also used to take it to Florida every few years to visit family. Last trip was in 2012. He says every trip was trouble free except an alternator issue a few years back, nd that has been replaced. With a little bit of time and effort into it, his truck could be just amazing ! If my opinion matters, d wet sand it, ake the light surface rust spots down to bare, lear coat it, rop it 6" or more, une it up, nd you'd be stylin ! Estimated time into doing this, f you have one friend helping, bout a week on and off, epending on how many cold beers ya crack !
