Description

The early Mustang fastback, r 2+2, s one of those rare cases where a car with a fixed roof is more valuable than its convertible counterpart. And this 1965 Mustang GT fastback lives at the top of the early Mustang desirability list, ith awesome black paint, strong-running 289, nd the perfect high-performance look that defines the first Mustangs. You know it's got to be straight if it's black, nd this car wears it extremely well. There are no ripples or waves and the only marks on the car are simply related to driving it, hich is understandably difficult to resist. It shows extremely well and with the red GT stripe along the rockers, t looks brilliant. All the signs point to this being a real GT, lthough they're notoriously difficult to authenticate, ut all the right equipment is there, rom the fog lamps to the tailpipe trumpets out back. The fastback looks particularly attractive in black and this one has a predatory look that escapes most early Mustangs; it's like the evil twin of the pony car family. Beautiful chrome bumpers, right stainless window moldings, nd a proper GT gas cap all add up to a car that attracts more than its fair share of attention out on the road. The black interior offers an upgraded Deluxe Dcor group (also known as the "Pony" interior) that looks fantastic. Black gives it a certain upscale look and the buckets have a comfortable look that's quite inviting. The materials are recent, ncluding the black carpets and door panels, nd aside from the leather wrapper on the steering wheel, t's quite stock. A center console adds to the Mustang's sporty feel (they always feel a little naked without it) and GTs got the five-gauge panel in a black "camera case" fascia that looks racy. The gauges inside are crisp and clear and all the switchgear looks to be recent, oo. Even the original AM radio is still in the center of the dash, aking this a Mustang that keeps its focus where it matters: performance. The 2+2s had fold-down rear seats, hich also makes them practical, ith enough room for all your gear on a road trip. This is a real-deal A-code car, nd the 289 cubic inch V8 under the hood sports a 4-barrel carburetor, ust as it should. The rebuild is fresh and runs superbly, nd it was nicely detailed at the same time so it lives up to the standards set by the rest of the car. The chrome air cleaner and valve covers were part of the GT package and it's been neatly finished with black engine enamel that was correct for early 1965 cars. It's linked to a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and an 8-inch rear end with 3.00 gears inside, o it's an easy highway car and still plenty punchy around town. A new dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers gives it that traditional Ford V8 sound and the floors are in great shape despite not being undercoated. Front disc brakes were part of the GT package and while Magnum 500 wheels weren't available in 1965, here's no denying that they look great on the vintage fastback. Big 235/60/15 BFGoodrich radials look suitably beefy and add to the sinister performance look. This is one of the nicest GT fastbacks we've ever featured. Great colors, trong mechanicals, nd, f course, he classic look. Hard to go wrong here. Call today!
