This is also the first time on the market for this car, o it's definitely not something you've seen, nd seen again!.I will do my best to describe it so that you feel you know it. It's hard to show the total story of thiscar in the words I use, ut I have added as many pictures as possible -I tried to use pictures that covered the overall feel and look of the car. . ModelA's -one of themost importantvehiclesthatFord ever made, nd did they ever sell a bunch. Edsel Ford had been telling his father Henry that what they needed to perk up sales was a new car, nd that's what they got - Edsel was right on the money. It was a pretty rakish and sporty car for the day, dsel had a great knack for style and he was able to slip some colors and flash here and there, hile still keeping the prices affordable for the average he or she, nd it still looks great - just a timeless and stylish car. There's been so many modified, runched, arted and messed up that it always amazes me that there are still stockers around. To me aCoupe isthe coolest of them all - yes, oadsters are awesome, ut there's something about the body style of the Coupes that I personally just love. I own 4 Model A's myself,so I am no stranger to the allure of the A. Itreally is about the oldest car that's easy as well as fun to drive. True the ModelT is older, ut onejust about needs 3 feet to driveone in stock trim and at least to me not ery fun, here the Model A is very versatile and fun to drive, utt or tour around in. This is a nice dry Texascar that is available to you today and let'sgo through it so you know it. Let's dig into what we know about this car: It's a 1930 Coupe, nd it obviously, o me anyhow, as either a restoration of a super clean older car, r a redo of an earlier (60's maybe? resto. It's really very stock, ith few if any modifications so really easy to go through - it appears to be a standard model (no cowl lights and one tailight) and the right rear steel fender shows no sign of having a light mounted to it. The rumble seat is functional, nd adds a really cool fun factor to the car, s it makes the car a couple passenger, r a 4 passenger with the flip of a trunk lid - kids, nd adults alike love that rumble seat, nd will be jumping for a chance to climb in and go for a ride. The engine appears all stock, ight down to the exhaust system. The water pump doesn't leak, nd I don't see signs of water having been flung around as often happens. There was an accesory or maize air filter at one time, he base is still present, ut we don't have the rest of it, t functions fine and as stock though even without it. The carb is a Zenith, nd seems to work just fine. I always shut off the fuel and let the car run til it dies when parking for any length - as well as not having fuel sit in the bowl for extended periods, nd thats how I have treated this one too, ets any gunk out of the tank/line/carb/fuel bowl if present and so far haven't noticed any. The car starts easily with just a pull on the choke when cold and not even that once warmed up. It's a joy to tool around in, nd these cars can be finicky, nd hard to start, nd when they are that way - aren't any fun at all (I know I own one like that!) The car cools well, nd the radiator looks either new or nicely redone, ot leaky as some are. No excessive smoke, nd the car has that oh so recognizeable Model A sound. The Motor number - LB4536 is stamped on the block, nd is also the VIN on the title - I don't recognize that number sequence, nd it's not typical Model a production # sequence, ut my guess is at some time the engine was rebuilt and stamped with that. I always think of an LB as the later insert bearing V8 flathead upgrade in '36, ould the motor have been done inserted instead of babbitted? I don't know, aybe you do.....clue me in if so please. Electrical system is still 6 volt, nd the car charges well, nd all that is like it should be. Model A electrical systems are pretty simple, hey either work, r they don't for the most part. The battery is a nice one and new. Points have been replaced recently to just make sure they were good, unk points can be problems in an A. The car was a daily driver for putting around the small town the owner lived in for years, nd he loved to drive it to his shop - the way the car appears to have been maintained is indicative of the way he kept all his cars, nd maintained them faithfully until he couldn't drive anymore, hich wasn't all that long ago. The transmission is as it should be - you're not gonna speed shift and 1/4 mile it, t least not quickly, ut it's all functional, s is the driveline and rear end - no funny noises and everything works as it should. On all four corners are Firestone Gum dipped 475/500x19 wide whitewall tires with lots of tread, nd though they are older, see no signs of age cracking on the sidewalls or tread as often happens. All 5 wheels are factory 19 inch wires and all appear to be in good condition. The spare tire itself doesn't match though wheel does - it's an older blackwall, ut it holds air and has tread, o is great as a spare - you wouldn't ever rotate these tires anyhow, ould you? The brakes are still mechanical as OEM and they work great. If you don't drive a lot, echanical is pretty cool as you don't have to ever worry about fluid - and if they are adjusted well, hey stop just fine, ot like discs or ABS or anything, ust drive at a respectable speed, nd keep in mind it's an old car, nd you will be just fine - well adjusted mechanical brakes work well, eriod. The car starts, uns, rives well. It's a stock Model A, o mistaking that, ut it works just like an A should. The more I drive it, he happier she is (yes, t's a she - once you get to know her you can call her Daisy, ut that's another story.....!) and sitting is the worst thing on a car, o the more she is driven the happier she will be. Inside we have a nice and redone interior, ost likely Lebaron and Bonney - I am not sure when this was done, ot super long ago, ut not last year either. The cloth is nice, nd fits the car well. Check the pic of the seat underneath and you will see that the wood is either cherry condition original or nicely redone. The seat adjusts forward and back like it should, nd often that part is gone or inop on a coupe. This is very functional and complete. The mat on the floor is vinyl, s OEM and nice. Everything seems to work fine, ven the dome light, hich rarely is functional in my experience. The glass is all nice, nd has been replaced, hough the passenger door window has a crack in it - this happened from the Texas heat I am told. The windshield hinges out like it should and all there is functional and nice. The wiper is vacuum, s OEM and it functions, ike vacuum, hich is not really well, ut it works. We are spoiled by electric accessories! Top insert is long grain vinyl, nd is nice, he retaining strips for the top insert have pulled up a little, ut it's nicer than the one on my own car - I consider the top part of the upholstery, orry if this appears out of order to you. Garnish moldings are all there andnice, y guess is they were painted gray, ut have turned a slight greenish color over the years. Horn is the Sparton type, hooga variety, hough it doesn't have a Sparton tag that I see - it works great, nd I used it often on my drives in the car (I think one is supposed to, ight?) The mileage of 00357 is something I am not sure of, aybe when the speedo was rebuilt they set to 0? But the speedo, do work, have put a few miles on the car. Headlights work fine, hough one high beam bulb is out - we'd rather be honest with you, nd not tell you things are perfect that aren't. The headlights themselves appear to be renickled or chromed original buckets, hat say Ford Two Light as they should with either nice repro lenses or the nicest originals I have seen. One of the really cool things about a Model A is the availability of repro parts, t affordable prices. It makes owning one - or more - really fun, s well as really affordable. The interior doesn't have a smoke smell, o i'm assuming non smoker owned (To confirm this the owner's daughter just told me her Dad never allowed smoking in any of his vehicles). The whole interior is really nice and tidy and pretty darned clean. Outside we have an all steel car - no fiberglass, othing rusty or rotten. The worst thing on the car was most likely the litte time the car spent sitting outside in the heat - someone did a great job of paint, nd the two tone between the blue and black. I can't tell you if there was a prep issue (maybe?) or just the heat but over time there's been a couple spots that the paint has done some delamination or paint bubbling - this isn't from rust, ut from either paint pull back, mproper prep, eat or maybe even paint to primer adhesion. This paint has been on a long long time, y guess is 20 years-ish, o it's not like it's fresh - you can see any and all issues with it, lear as day. On the left body corner top of the 1/4near the roof/trunk header panel, ight fender top towards the running board, he left door top where there's a reveal molding, y the left drip railand a spot on the right corner that makes me think it had a patch panel at some time there, hich is pretty common on an A. The paint is shiny, ot dry or orange peeled and had to be drop dead gorgeous when first done, s it's still stunning today, ut, eedless to say, he paint isn't perfect, o the price is adjusted accordingly - we are trying to be really really picky for you in describing and photographing this car so you know what you are getting and there are no surprises or disappointments. In fact this isn't so much of an apology for the paint as an explanation - I personally love the patina the car has, nd so will you and the people who see it. The car shows really well, nd I have done my best to show you what is at issue. It's a very honest car, ith nothing hidden, othing phoney, he car hasn't even been washed, hich is why the black of the tires is a bit 'white'. I know, know - 'look - they were too lazy to detail the car"! Not the case at all - we wanted you to see EXACTLY what the car is, othing more, othing less - it would sure look dandy all detailed up. The fenders are all steel, s mentioned earlier, he left doesn't appear to have ever been drilled for a tail light, nd the left front is the only one that seems to have been repaired, tock A fenders are notorious for cracking from use, amage and or vibration. These fenders are all really nice. The running boards have to be near new and are really nice. Bumpers are nice, traight, nd have to have been rechromed or nickeled at some point. Drip rails are nice, nd attached well. Grille is nice, ood is nice, ut has some minor paint flaking at the hinge points towards the rear, ot altogether uncommon. There is a small bubble on the right side of the windshield frame, gain, ot untypical of a Model A. Doors shut well and rumble functions well. Overall the car is as straight as it appears, oesn't have any rust or rot that I can find, nd represents the A's very well. It's sad to say, ut it would be a great basis for a mild hop-up, specially with the slight patina it has - really this is a car that could do anything, nd stand tall - or leave it alone, our choice. It hasn't been detailed, uffed, luffed or phoneyed a bit, or is it a car that has been bought to sell, his is a car that has been well loved and is ONLY for sale due to medical reasons and to pay for an urgent and long term care situation. We are not looking for sympathy here, ut a mutual understanding that this is being sold for a really great reason and not being 'flipped' to make a buck.clean and clear title without any brands or liens that matches to clearly visible engine # is in hand and available for the new buyer after clear funds have been recieved and are in place. We are hoping that someone who digs what thecar IS will be able to purchase and continue to love on and appreciate it. If I had room and didn't already own a '31 Coupe, 'd love to have it, 'd play around with a few accessories, everse eye spring the nose,16 inch Kelsey wheel and stagger tire it, lean it up,have a set of twice pipes made, ouldn't touch the paint, rive it aroundand call it done - a keeper for sure. It will be the source of many smiles, aves, nvious stares and enjoyment that we know for sure, ertainly not for the shy. Is the car perfect? No - it wasn't when new, ut it is a nice, olid and very driveable 85 year old automobile that's had years of love and care - and needs/deserves a new caretaker - will that be you? Show it, tore it, estore it, aily drive it - any or all of these makes sense - just take care of it.
