Description

I've used this car as a daily commuter for the past 5 years, trong runner and ready to go. Comes with service manual, xtra parts, nd extra set of wheels with winter tires mounted.
Good: ~35 mpg highway, 20 mpg mixed city/highway. 7,000 miles on Dunlop Direzza DZ102 summer tires (installed 6/2014), 000 miles on Michelin X-Ice XI-2 winter tires (installed 2011).
Newer clutch (installed 4/2011 at 92000 miles), ewer alternator (8/2011 at 93000 miles), ewer shocks, ater pump, iming belt (9/2011 at 93500 miles), ew piston rings and cylinder honing 11/2011 at 94000 miles), ew front and rear brakes (2012 at 96000 miles). Air conditioning repaired and converted from R12 to R134a (6/2013 98000 miles), lows 42°F air on 90° summer days.
Bad: Rust. Small amount of rust starting to appear underneath paint on rear fenders and front driver fender. Bottoms of rocker panels have pretty much rusted away (hidden by plastic rocker panel cover), ottom five inches or so of fender ahead of rear wheel has rusted away (also hidden by plastic cover). I've sprayed yearly treatments of rust preventative coating to underbody (Fluidfilm) to slow this advancing rust to a crawl. Rust hasn't spread to critical parts, loor pan is good and all suspension mounting areas are sound.
Because of failed EGR valve, he EGR system as been deleted, o this car will probably not pass an emissions test if you live in a state that requires inspections. EGR pipe is one of the spare parts included if you want to repair this (~$250 for new parts). Because of this EGR system deletion, REMIUM FUEL IS NOW REQUIRED. Running on 87 octane for a year with the EGR system deleted resulted in a failed head gasket (new gasket and rebuilt cylinder head installed May 2014).
Engine sometimes surges between 1000 rpm and 2000 rpm at idle, s if the engine is hunting for an idle speed. Replacement ECU (included, ee pic) failed to solve this problem. This does not affect drivability under acceleration or at cruising speed, appens only sometimes at idle.
Power steering is not working, haven't looked into this. Since the car is so light, usually don't even notice it unless parallel parking or other slow speed parking maneuvers.
