Description

Check it out, his 1946 GMC pickup truck is not only rare, ut it's a rare opportunity to own a finished custom for a fraction of the cost of construction. Want to get noticed? Nothing does it better than this handsome, et practical, ickup with bright red paint, handsome, ully-finished interior, nd reliable Chevy V8 power. The classic post-war lines of the GMC truck give it an unmistakable face and an old-school charm with a tall grille and separate headlight pods atop the fenders. You can go to any show and see several Chevy pickups, ut GMCs like this show up far less often. The old truck's body lines lend themselves to the customizer's touch, ith modifications that include a painted grille, haved door handles, nd a smooth tailgate that's been faired-into the bodywork for a seamless look. The paint is in good order, ice enough to cruise but not so nice that you head home at the first sign of rain, nd all the sheetmetal is steel (no fiberglass here), o it feels substantial on the road. There's a cool custom chin guard with the GMC logo on it, atching step plates, nd a Vee'd windshield that makes it look a little sleeker than stock. The bed is beautifully finished and a custom rear roll pan adds a set of frenched '39 Ford taillights and a row of LEDs for maximum visibility (as if this bright red truck needed help in that regard). The new black interior is very well done and works well with the exterior color scheme thanks to red piping on the seat and door panels. It was finished a few years ago but is holding up very well, ith no major signs of wear and you have to admit that it will generate attention at shows. The carpets are red for a bit of contrast, ut with black mats, t isn't overpowering and the red dash works quite well. A custom billet aluminum panel in the original gauges' spot holds a set of white-faced VDO instruments, ll of which are framed by a billet steering wheel with a red leather rim on a tilt steering column. The A/C was neatly integrated under the dash in a custom panel and there's an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit with speakers in the door panels for entertainment on the road. Seat belts were also added for safety, aking this a truck you won't hesitate to drive just about anywhere. The 350 cubic inch V8 that powers this truck has a Z/28 look and probably just as much performance. There's a mild cam in the middle, iving it a suitably rumbly idle, lus an Edelbrock aluminum intake and 4-barrel carburetor up top. Designed more for practicality than for show, he engine bay is nonetheless clean and sanitary, ith obvious signs of planning during the build. A custom front cross member includes a Mustang II front suspension and power rack-and-pinion steering and the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission snaps through the gears like a muscle car. It drives like a modern piece, ven with that awesome stance, nd with Flowmaster mufflers, t has a suitably threatening exhaust note. Even a blind man will know this is a cool truck! Classic Torque Thrust wheels look great and really stuff the fat fenders with fresh blackwall radials.A full-tilt custom, 8 power, nd surprising practicality, ou'll do a double-take on the price while everyone else does a double-take on the truck.
