Massive amount of work completed on this 1957 GMC pickup over the past 5+ years.
Odometer shows a total of 244 miles since these upgrades were competed and pickup was drivable.
Has a huge '1968' 472 Cubic Inch Cadillac engine and 3 speed Turbo A/T transmission. Engine has chrome valve covers, new paint, Edelbrock air cleaner and electric choke Edelbrock carb, chrome alternator, Mallory HEI ignition w/8mm wires. High quality chrome header (thick flanges-see pic), dual exhaust, power steering, power brakes. Dual exhaust sounds awesome. Starts instantly, idles smooth and lots of power. New motor mounts fabricated for 472 Cadillac engine. New large capacity aluminum radiator with thermostat controlled electric fan and shroud on inside and manual fan on outside, if needed. To my knowledge engine and transmission were not rebuilt, but came from a low mileage donor.
1978 Chevrolet Camaro front clip was used for modern steering, braking and suspension. All components on front and rear brakes are NEW including disc rotors/shoes wheel cylinders/calipers, etc. Front brakes are disc and rear brakes are drum (power). All suspension parts replaced with new like ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. Mechanic did not install new upper ball joints (forgot). Differential is also from 1978 Camero.
Body was removed from frame and frame was cleaned, sanded and painted (black) before power train installed. Both front fenders had rust, so new steel fender patches were installed. Also both cab corners were rusted and were replaced with new. See pics. Floors are excellent. The only rust I can find is in the drivers side foot well. There is a 2"X2" area that needs replaced.
Bullet grille is very good as is GMC insert and fender emblems. Interior is not cut up. It does have 6"X8" oval holes in both door panels for stereo speakers. If this was a 1/2 ton it should say 101 on the grille and this says 150, so I am assuming it was a 3/4 T pickup originally, but now 1/2 T. Has new chrome tail lights and all lights, wiper and gauges work except fuel. Needs new sending unit.
Bench cloth seat is out of a 2008 Dodge Durango. Has a fold down arm rest. Very comfortable. Has original controls and heater has a new core.
All new 22 circuit Pro Comp Electrics wiring harness installed with all new Equus white faced gauges.
It has 20" Chrome DTP 7 spoke rims with low profile Continental tires. Both have 244 miles, but they are not my preference. Prefer vintage wheels/tires.
Here are some of the things that need done to finish...
It needs a chrome step side bumper andbracketsfrom LMC-about$350It needs a headliner kit from LMC-about $200Front windshield is cracked and needs replaced with new rubber gasket-about $300Needs a fuel sending unit.-about $70 LMCAll rubber moldings were decayed/rotted and were removed. Needs new. LMCStepside bed has a particle board floor over the original wood floor that has missing sections. New floor and SS strips from LMC-about $500Tailgate needs repair. Left corner tweaked. I think it can be repaired or new replacement LMC-about $350It is very close to being prepared for paint. Body is in primer. My intent was to paint the interior and exterior in the same paint (Red, Corvette Blue or silver metallic) There are two small dents that need removed in fenders and one rocker has a dent that needs repaired.Exhaust is only run to axle, because were uncertain of bumper height until installed.
I have tried to disclose everything that I am aware of.
All in all it has the majority of the most expensive and time consuming work done.
According to NADA guides the High Retail for a 1957 GMC 101 shortbed is $49,000 (Restored trailer queen). Average retail for this pickup is $24,300. I see nice, well painted 55-57 pickups selling in my area for $25-30K with similar upgrades completed.
Either willing to sell this now "AS IS" for a fair price or have it scheduled for paint and finish and will offer it at market value when finished. Already a ton of labor and money in this truck and I am willing to sell, but not give it away.
You are welcome to call me if you have any questions or need more pictures of anything. (208)345-1400. Thanks!
