Description

1975 GMC Gentleman Jim the "brother" to the 1975 GMC Beau JamesSuper rare collector's pickup. Best estimates are that only 1500-2000 of these trucks were ever made. Easily less than 1000 left on the road today. I've only ever seen 3 and 2 of those I own. This is a spare that I bought to restore and don't have the time or money anymore to do that. Highly optioned truck that came with pleather bucket seats with center console color matching carpet tilt steering column in-dash tachometer air conditioningspecial floor mats AM/FM 8-track radio5.7 liter 350 with 4-barrel quadrajet carburetor automatic TH350 transmission 3.42 rear end gears special paint special "Gentleman Jim" detailing on the rear corners of the bed chrome bumpers and many other dealer add-on options like bed rails tonneau cover and fog lights. This truck is missing the bucket seats and center console is missing the floor mats the door panels have all lost their "wood grain" look the headliner has been replaced with felt that is sagging and the Gentleman Jim stickers on the side of the bed have been scraped off. You can still see where they used to be though.Has a fresh tune up with new spark plugs and wires and a new distributor and completely rebuilt carburetor. It runs really well. Just had the transmission flushed but one of the bolts stripped out of the pan when it was re-assembled so it has a small leak. The speedometer doesn't work; someone replaced the original cable with one much too long and I believe the speedo drive gears inside the tailshaft are broken. Only reason I can think of why it doesn't work. This truck definitely isn't the prettiest looking truck and unfortunately is missing some of what makes it so special. It has some body issues with dents in each bed side behind the cab and some rust over each fender well. The floors and rockers are in good shape though. All in all it's a good base to start for a complete restoration on and it's a very rare truck to be able to own. Most people have no idea what a Gentleman Jim is and the few that do either owned one or knew someone who did and will talk your ear off about them.
