Description

Rare 1957 GMC COE (Cab Over Engine)

1957 GMC 4500 series COE, ith a 1978 ½ ton short bed GMC chassis, 50V-8, 00R4 overdrive automatic, S, DB, ilt wheel, amp; 12 bolt rear axle.

I’m listing this truck for my friend Jim Timmons if you have any questions please contact Jim @ jtimmons@solidnet.com

Jim has built several (50+) Hot Rods and trucks, or himself and others, e owned Cedar Hill street rods for many years and is now retired.

The truck started life as a 1.5 ton GMC 4500 COE and it now sits on a 1978 GMC ½ ton 2 wheel drive short bed chassis. It has a custom built bed with stock 1955-59 GMC rear fenders. It has custom built running boards and a trap door in the bed to access the fuel tank. The truck has about 15 miles on it since it was assembled.

All the lights work, nd the engine sounds great with new dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers; the truck has a great rumble to it. The truck starts, uns & drives great, t drives straight and true down the road.

The brake pedal is a little close to the steering column for me, ut the brakes work fine.

The truck has all new aftermarket Equus gauges that all work including dash lights, 970’s Dodge van bucket seats, ew wiring with a “Rebel Wire” kit, new polished stainless tilt column, ew dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, hat sound great, ew 15x10 & 15x8 Corvette rally wheels, nd new radial tires.

The truck is in primer and the body work has not been completed for final paint. It can be run as is or the new owner can paint it to their liking.

It has a few pin holes in the cab corners and some older fiberglass repairs in the door bottoms, nd several small dents and scratches, ut overall it is a solid and very rare truck. It is also missing the heater controls. The truck comes with an extra hood, rill, amp; grill surround. It also has new door weather stripping.

GMC COE’s are different from Chevrolet’s as the fenders open and fold out for better under hood access; the headlights and grill are also different from a Chevrolet.

The truck has a mid 1970’s 350 V-8 with around 10,000 miles on it; it has an Edelbrock performer intake with an Edelbrock 4bbl carb with manual choke.

The 700R4 transmission is rebuilt with around 15 miles on it.

Jim is selling the truck because his wife wants him to finish her Model A sedan. So the COE has to go so the A can get completed.

So now you have a chance to buy this truck & finish it to your taste or drive it and enjoy it as is.

There is no heater or AC in the truck, he wipers need to be installed and the body work has not been started, he truck was stripped to bare metal and primed. It has several small dents and some rust repair that needs finishing before it can be painted.

But the truck is a great start/project or you can drive it as is and have fun with it.

Please contact Jim with any questions about the truck, ou can email him @ jtimmons@solidnet.com or contact me via Ebay message and I’ll give you his phone number. Thank You, ale

Please ask any questions before you bid or buy.

Good luck and thank you for looking at my item.

Please check my other auctions often as I’m cleaning out my shop with 25+ years of accumulation. I will also be selling more cars and project cars.

Due to the fact that this is a 58+ year old used truck and Jim cannot control how it will be used by the new owner there is no warranty or returns. This truck is sold as-is. What is listed and what you see on the truck in the pictures is what you get.

Jim will need a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 5 days of sale, nd then balance must be paid in full within 10 days of end of auction. If not paid within 10 days this truck will be re-listed and deposit not returned. (Jim will work with you if there is a good excuse, ut he will not lower price). He will not charge storage on this truck, f this truck is paid for it can be stored at Jim’s home for awhile (1 or 2 months, ot a year) until shipping is arranged.

Jim will not arrange shipping for the truck that is up to you the buyer but he will work with you and your shipper in any way he can.
