I purchased this truck with the intent of restoring it to be a farm truck. The truck caught my eye in a small village several months ago and the owner stated the motor had been recently rebuilt. I have too many projects going on in my life right now so I am going to let this one go to free up time for others. I never intended for a frame-up restoration so if that's what your looking for this is not the truck unless you do it yourself. I had my friend who is a certified mechanic do the following for me:
1. Pulled the motor and verified motor was rebuilt. Ran a compression check and found all cylinders in a range of 148psi, ormal for this 283 Chevy motor(this is not the original motor, his truck originally came with an inline 6). All freeze plugs were removed and replaced with brass plugs. Motor was stripped of grease and paint and oil pan gasket, alve cover gaskets and intake gasket were replaced. Motor was primed and painted with Chevy orange. Carb was rebuilt and a new gasket for the base. Replaced water pump and fuel pumper. Starter was checked and cleaned. Replaced all spark plugs, oints and condenser. Replaced cap and spark plug wires were replaced. All pulley's and brackets were stripped and repainted. New alternator and fan belt. Engine reinstalled in truck.
2. Clutch and flywheel were replaced with new clutch, ressure plate, hrow out bearing and flywheel.
3. Replaced float and sending unit in fuel tank.
4. Shocks were all replaced
5. Wire's were cleaned up and organized
Items that still work on truck: Headlights, rontturn signals, indshield wipers, eater, lternator gauge, uel gauge
Items that need to be fixed or replaced: Body needs work throughoutas you can see in the pictures. Fenders need to be replaced due to rust and damage. Floorboards need patch panels and tranny cover. Door jams are in decent shape and doors and hood shuts perfectly. Bed has minimal rust with no holes. I removed bed and stripped all the old wood and reinstalled bed with new mounting hardware but no wood. Taillights need to be installed. Floors need carpet. Seat needs reupholstering. Windshield needs to be replaced.Rims and tires need to be replaced. Steering column is in poor condition, pper and lower bearings are bad so there is a lot of play in the steering when driving.
Truck has no leaks, tarts right up, nd idles quietly. Brakes are drum and work fine. I have driven it around town but wouldn't go past 35 due to tires needing to be replaced.
I am listing this truck "as is"with no reserve.
