Description

OK, ere is my 2nd, nd hopefully better, ttempt to list my 1991 CRX Si. I wasn't happy with the first listing and ebay rules prevented me from changing some of the photos and rewriting the initial description to make it clearer.I will start out by answering most of the many questions I've been getting about the car right up front.1) Q: You have photos showing 2 different sets of wheels on the car. Which does it come with? A: The car had the ugly painted 15" rims on it when I bought it. I have decided to deliver the car with a nice set of stock factory rims, hich also have relatively fresh Kumho tires on them. I think this is what most people seem to prefer, nd also, think it suits the "original stock" condition of the car better.2) Q: Is this the car's original paint finish? A: NO. When I got the car, t looked basically like a faded pencil eraser, ecause it had spent at least 12 or 13 years living in the Tucson, Z desert, nd it didn't appear to have been stored in a garage for most of that time, ecause the paint was so faded and also most of the rubber moldings were totally baked. I bought this car for3 main reasons... 1) The low original miles. 2) It is nearly totally RUST FREE! 3) The fact that, ther than a set of lowering springs and aftermarket wheels and stereo, he car had not been bastardized or swapped, nd was still in mostly stock condition. I know that many CRX enthusiasts love to customize these cars a great deal, nd I support that idea, o an extent. The fact is, owever, hat now after so many thousands of these cars have been modified there are relatively few "stock condition" examples left. If you are looking for a CRX with a B16 orB18, nd ready for a weekend at theSCCA track, here are plenty to be had. However, he examples which are clearly worth the most, specially considering that the newest CRX is now 24 years old, re the ones which have remained untouched, nd being an automotive restorer and CRX enthusiast, hat is where my interest lies. So, hen I saw this car come up for sale about 5 years ago, could overlook the faded paint because of the other redeeming qualities the car has.3) Q: How does the paint job look on the car? A: For a totally clear idea and to feel the most confident about this, r ANY aspect of the car, or that matter, HIGHLY encourage any serious bidder to come look at the car in person BEFORE they bid. However, can tell you that the paint is clean and shiny and matches the original factory color. It's a 2k single stage acrylic urethane, ike Honda used,But, t's not a concourse show-carjob. There are some minor blemishes and imperfections in the finish. It looks great though, nd none of the imperfections are noticeable from a few feet away.A huge amount of time was spent toproperly prepare the car before painting. All the trim was removed, ncluding door handles, irrors, tc, nd the original chalky faded paint was thoroughly sanded downand small dings filled, prior to application of a 2k sealer, hich was then sanded againprior to top-coating, o the paint should be good for another 24 years.(as can be seen in the photos, here is no overspray)After the paint work was finished, he car was treated to as many brand new Honda original rubber moldings as we could find available still from the dealer, ncluding rear quarterwindowmoldings, nd door window seals, nd rain gutter strips(over $1,000 in new trim and moldings alone, nd over $5k in expenses for the overall paint job) We restore other classic European cars at our shop, s a business..., ut this CRX has been a labor of love, nd I am quite proud of the work we've done to bring this car back to be a very respectable example of a CRX whichany owner willfeel proud to be seen in and drive. 4) Q: Does it have A/C, nd does it work? A: YES, t has A/C, nd the switch and fan do work, ut it appears to be low on pressure because the compressor clutchis not engaging. This is one area which I do not have the equipment to remedy. I suggest the new owner simply take the car to a professional A/C shop for servicing. Everything else seems to be there and in working order.5) Q: Can I see some photos of the underside of the car? And of the engine and under hood area, tc.. A: YES, ou can. I have taken dozens of photos, nd have finally figured out how to display them inline here on ebay as part of the listing description, o I can give you far more than the 24 picture limit that ebay imposes in the top display area. If I still missed something that you want to see, imply write or call me and let me know and I will try to send additional photos for you.6) Q: If I buy the car, o you think it is safe to drive to _______? (i've been asked about places as far away as Oregon and Arizona and Florida!) A: While I obviously cannot guarantee anything, honestly do not see any reason why the car would not safely and reliably make a trip to anywhere in the country. All lights function properly, he brakes are bled and work fine, nd the rest of the car (steering, uspension, earbox, tc) feel like you would expect a 50,000 mile CRX to feel.. still quite fresh and tight!!
