Description

Maybe I was foolish to maintain this car so well that it’s just past 400K miles but that’s the way it went down. It has only stranded me twice over all those miles. I bought this 1994 Honda Accord wagon with rare 5 speed manual in early 1997 and have been driving it ever since. It was a lease car that was exactly 3 years old and had 38K miles on it. Has one little dot of rust/bubbles right under the gas filler. There was a minor ‘incident’ with a street sign a few weeks ago as seen on front bumper. The turn signal lens is cracked, ut I have a used replacement in the car. In a car wash, he sunroof leaks a little, ot in rain. Battery has about a year left. Driver’s seat belt a little frayed. The rest is good news: The original distributor lasted 18 years. The original exhaust system lasted over 10 years. I got almost 200K miles out of one clutch. The steering wheel got so worn down, o I replaced it. Rear door interior panels were replaced but the fabric, hile the same color, nd doesn’t quite match in texture. Had a new headliner also. It still has its MODERN CASSETTE PLAYER which I still use, ith apologies to no one for being a cassette dork. Recent air filter. And regular 3K oil changes, lthough we are told it’s only 7K now. I think the 3K change has been central to the longevity of this car. I have a spreadsheet showing what was done and when, nd what the mileage was. You have a good 65 K miles left on the timing belt, 0k on front brakes and even 75K left on clutch, o all the expensive stuff was done pretty recently About the mileage – it’s on two speedometers. Right past 300K miles, he speedo went intermittent – working by my estimate, bout 2/3 of the time. It was replaced at 311,416 and my guess the mileage was about 315/316K at that point. This removed speedometer (pictured) comes with the car. Replacement speedo now reads 94,415, o there’s the approximate total miles driven. Comes with 3 keys, nd original owners manual. But due to its age this car is sold AS-IS, At the dealer I used to go to, hey had and 80s Civic with just under 450K miles… I could never beat that one. One guy thought it might be in the top 20 in the country, ut I have no idea on this and am NOT making that claim here. So old Honda people, t’s up to you to take it to half a million miles. Any questions about any maintenance and repairs let me know and I will consult the repair/maintenance records I have going back to 1997.
