Description

Here is an auction with a twist a very nice and very original UN-RESTORED low mileage 1964 C-1200 Travelette pickup with a bonus package offering. If the winning bid exceeds $8000 the winner will also get the late 60’s RATcub.I believe this to be a model 72.It runs well and looks cool.If the winning bid exceeds $9000 the winner will also get the 1650 Cub Cadet which runs and operates very well. The “big” package deal will be if the winning bid exceeds $10000 the winner will also receive both cubs and a Cub Cadet late model black 2 stage snow blower that goes on the 1650 Cub Cadet. The snow blower is like new. Both tractors with mowers can be seen in the attached pictures. This package will come will all the manuals for the truck Cub Cadet 1650 and accessories.I can provide more pics if needed.

The truck also comes with the original line set sheet that shows the truck was sold with the original 409 school bus yellow paint.

The info that I have is that the truck was originally purchased new by the University of Montana and spent all but the last year in Montana. This last year has been spent garaged in Wyoming. Both of these climates are very dry.The truck has been well preserved with only a few very minor rust spots. They are mainly where paint nicks and scratches are.The original 409 school bus yellow paint is amazingly well preserved and still has a pretty good shine to it especially for being 51 year old paint.

The 304 V8 and 4 speed manual transmission work and run like a Swiss watch. All gauges work.It has good oil pressure normal temp etc…All the lights work (even the dome light). It has original IH west coast mirrors.

The truck had been my winter project and though I enjoyed it thoroughly as I have driven it with my wife mother sons and grandson and gotten to take lots of pictures of it with them it is now time to move on.

I have redone the brake system. They did not appear to have ever been done before and even though they were in good shape I wanted make sure that they were true and perfect.I had the drums turned only about 30/1000 removed to true them up and put on all new NAPA shoes and rebuilt all wheel cylinders with NOS IH parts Wagner Lockheed and put in new NAPA hub seals and repacked all the original IH wheel bearings with LE grease. This was done after thoroughly cleaning all the parts. The parts appeared to have never been apart except for the left front hub. They were still in good condition. All but the left front hub even still had the IH seals.Yes I kept all of them and the original brake shoes if you wanted to get new linings put on them.

I also rebuilt the brake/clutch master cylinder and flushed all the lines thoroughly and put new fluid in and bled the system correctly.ALL works very good even the park brake for a 1964 with no power booster.

I also put in a new pinion shaft seal in the rear differential and changed the fluid.I added limited slip additive since it does have the power-lok differential.

I completely cleaned and serviced the oil bath air filter with new oil.I changed the engine oil and engine oil filter. It still has the original cartridge type oil filter.I also drained the radiator and engine block and put in new pre-mix coolant.I completely greased all grease fittings on the front axle tie rods and driveline including throw out bearings with LE grease.

I replaced the lower front shock bushings with NOS on the original IH shocks that still work very well. All the other bushings are still very good.

I replaced the shifter pin in the top of the transmission to stop the slack in the shift lever and installed a new shifter rubber boot.I also drained and put new gear oil in the transmission.

The front floor pans had surface rust and a few tiny pin holes so I removed the rubber mat and thoroughly cleaned them with a steel wire wheel brush on a side grinder until it was clean bare metal.I then applied Ospho rust treatment product and let it dry for a few days. Then I put a good coat of Case IH farm equipment gray primer over the area (a very good quality paint) and let it dry a few days.I then applied some JB Weld to the tiny pin holes and pitted areas. The floors were still very solid metal so no need to replace them. Now they are protected and look good. The original rubber mat is in good shape but I did replace the jute on the back of the mat with the ½” thick burlap type jute that the truck came with originally. It’s all good now and for a long time to come.

I did the 6 foot bed floor the same as the front floor boards minus the JB Weld as it had no pin holes only surface rust. The grey paint is about the same color as the original door panels and dash so I chose to leave it that way.It is now protected and durable.

The truck has 5 brand new 7.50-16 STA Specialty Tires of America. Yes these tires are still made in USA.They are 8 ply load range D bias ply tires with highway tread on the front and mud grips on the rear and spare. These tires have less than 100 miles on them. They were all computer spun balanced and run smoothly on the highway. The truck drives extremely nice. You would never know that these tires were not radials. Before I mounted the new tires I thoroughly cleaned all the wheels and lock rings and especially lock ring grooves on the wheels.I even applied some Case IH gray primer to the groves and lock rings and then painted the lock rings with IH 2150 red paint.

Everything has been done correctly with a lot of time and care taken as I am very proud of these cool old International Harvesters and I want them to be around for a long time to come for future generations to enjoy and see how good things used to be.Not so much anymore.

It does have a new Case IH battery and the original Holley Carburetor rebuilt and tuned runs perfect. Also the heater box has been removed as it started leaking coolant. It was pressure tested and just needs a new heater valve and heater hoses. The box and core are good condition.I just never got around to that as I never planned on driving it in the winter.

You would have to look long and hard to ever find this nice and this original of a Travelette of this vintage especially for this price. This truck is about as original as you will ever find….yellow paint seats dash plug wires radiator hoses shocks even exhaust system front to back with no leaks. It is a very quiet and smooth running shifting driving truck.I even carefully bolted (2) 145 pound Farmall H rear wheel weights under the rear of the truck for a nice ride and more traction if needed. It is just about as smooth as ½ ton truck now.It also requires less effort turning the steering wheel since the 300 pounds of weight in the rear counters the weight of the engine on the front axle.Seeing and driving this truck is like going back to the 60’s to an International Harvester dealer who has a barely used nearly new Travelette with only a little over 43.000 miles.

The mileage is not documented on the title but it is almost surely correct as it has so many original parts and it runs and drives great!

The truck does have a few dents and scratches. The worst is the right rear fender but this gives it some character.Remember it is a 51 year old un-restored original truck. It could probably be easily fixed by a good dent repair guy.

This Travelette is ready to drive and enjoy as is or if you prefer a great nearly rust free well preserved low mileage start for a complete restoration. The Cubs are also fully serviced and ready to go and in good condition!

If you would like to discuss anything about the truck or Cubs give me a call @ 307-742-3003 (no texts) or send an email.I can email you more pics of specific things if you need as we can only post a certain amount on Ebay.

I hope this will be a fun auction for the IH enthusiast!
