Description

I am selling this car for a friend.
He is open to letting you come see the car but it is not located at my house. It is roughly a half hour north of Ann Arbor, MI. Contact me and I will provide you his phone number. The car is currently not licensed, but you can start it and drive it around his yard.
I've known this car since he bought it, The car is incredibly original and from all appearances, you might think it is only a couple years old. He keeps it in the garage and takes it out for short drives every now and then.
There are a couple of paint chips in the clear coat on the hood, a small white mark in the paint on one door and a very tiny dent on the right rear quarter panel. It's in that photo, but not at all evident, you have to look very hard to find it on the car. There are a couple small scuffs on the front bumper end caps, nothing really noticeable but they are there. I suspect shipping damage. It has a real tire and matching aluminum rim in the trunk.
Here is it's story, in the owners own words.
HISTORY
I am a 1990 original model XJS V12 Diamond Blue convertible Jaguar with a dark blue top and matching interior with leather seats, a real beauty. Created in England in December 1989 and shipped to the USA. My first owner was Ford Motor Company, which bought me for the purpose of evaluating the purchase of my company, Jaguar of England. As my passport Service Report notes, for my first year and some 50,000 miles I was pampered and expertly maintained by the Ford Motor Phoenix Arizona Test Center. I must have done well, because Ford Motor bought my company. Although I am grateful for my car at the test center, that first year was a bore.
My next two years and some 35,000 miles were spent in California with a doctor who showed my why I was built in the first place. These were exciting times for he steered me through a whole new world of wonder and joy. Oh I liked that guy. He took care of me and I tried to please him. Everything was just fine, but then at 76,000 miles my speedometer had to be replaced. Shortly thereafter I had issues with my passenger window, the electric quit. This and at the same time failing my yearly emissions test, I became too much for my owner and he figured it was time to move on.
I met my next driver on a sunny California day in January of 1994, when I was a mere three years old. I took this "out of state" visitor for a test drive. I immensly impressed him with my untarnished classic beauty and magnificent performance. I smiled when I heard his comment, "It's like a brand new car. But when I heard "Ship to Michigan", I about died. But my worries were for naught, for he never put me outdoors in a Michigan winter. This guy was a Ford Engineer, he pampered me with care, fixed the window electric, and although I still can't pass a California emission test, it's not necessary in Michigan. He proudly shows and enjoys the soft purring putter of my 12 cylinders. Other than my AC needing recharge I proudly say everything is working. For some 20 years and 5,500 most memorable local miles, this guy has taken great care of me: in the garage, covering me up, showing and treating me as a museum piece. Now, 20 years later, I am a "Classic Antique". Shamelessly, my speedometer now reads 12,600, which is actually closer to the way I feel and look, as my photos show. But now, my guy wants his garage back. I'm ready for some excitement, a new adventure, you?
