Description

1967 Jaguar Kougar 3.4S Sports MK II RoadsterIf your looking for a car to stand out at the car show this is the one. Nobody else will have one. This carattracts attention wherever you go. Since I owned it I have taken to a few British car shows. The car won best of show by popularchoice at the Rochester NY and second place at Buffalo NY. I have paperwork fromoriginal owner when the car was a Jaguar S back inBritain. After the car left GreatBritain it went to California spending it's life there. The car is number matching to the factory data plate from day one . The car hasreceipt for total engine andcarberator rebuild. The car hasoriginal paint so it does show some age. There is some small spiderwebbingin rear section of vehicle and on rear fender (see picture). Car isregistered as a Jaguar Kougar. You will be given a New York State transferableregistration as proof of ownership as NY does not issue titles on vehicles before 1973. Vehicle is located out side Buffalo New York. You can google the car and see tons of pictures when the car was listed for sale in California. 716-432-3360This is thedescription of the car when I purchased a few years ago:While some Kougar's were delivered partially assembled to their first owners this car was assembled at the factory and the quality of assembly and level of craftsmanship reflect this fact. This is reportedly the 7th car of 250 factory produced examples. The owner indicates that there were only 14 factory constructed examples exported into the U.S. making this a rare car indeed. This Kougar was originally delivered to Mr. James Routledge of Sussex UK on August 3rd 1967. It remained in the UK until it was imported into the US in the 1980's and has been owned by the same family ever since. The car is only being offered for sale as a result of the dissolution of the estate of its elderly owner. The Kougar has recently received considerable mechanical attention (receipts available) to bring it into strong running / driving condition. It is filed under California's "Non-operation" program so no back fees or penalties are due on the Kougar should it remain registered in California. It is titled as a 1967 Jaguar and as a result is exempt from California smog requirements. With drive-line components from a 1967 Jaguar 3.4S the car is powered by a healthy 3.4S twin overhead cam inline 6 cylinder Jaguar engine mated to a Jaguar 4-speed transmission with electric overdrive. Front and rear suspension is taken directly from a Jaguar retaining Jaguars innovative inboard rear disc brakes and independent rear suspension. The chassis is a very rigid round tubular space frame design covered by an attractive body very reminiscent of 1950s era sports and racing cars.Considerably lighter and more agile than an XKE or Jaguar sedan this Kougar will out corner out accelerate and stop faster than other Jaguar's offered to the general public in the 1950s or 1960s. The engine starts easily and makes excellent power accompanied by the wonderful inline 6 cylinder exhaust note from the side pipe exhaust. The transmission shifts smoothly as it should suspension is well balanced and the brakes are effective.Dimensionally the car measures as follows:Wheelbase: 100"Front Track: 56"Rear Track: 57"Height: 36"Ground Clearance: 5~"Electrical System: 12 Volt / Positive EarthSPECIFICATIONSThe car is documented with its original chassis and build components: Manufactured in the Kougar factory in the United Kingdom in the mid 1960's Car / Chassis #: P1B7823DN (Exempt from CA smog & safety - Registered as a 1967 Jaguar Body #: 4B8972 Gearbox: JBN9978 Original UK Registration: MNJ177F Color: Golden Sand Engine Type: Jaguar In Line Six Double Overhead Cam Twin Carburetor Size: 3442 cc Engine #: 7B8977.8Note: Above numbers represent the numbers from the original '67 Jaguar MK II S TypeCONDITIONTo say that this car attracts attention would be a dramatic understatement! In fact it's difficult to stop anywhere without a flurry of questions from a wide range of individuals. Typical inquiries include: "Wow what is it"? "Is it an Allard"? "What's it got in it"? Has it been raced"? The list goes on and on. It's safe to say that you need to plan on a bit of extra time for those trips to the hardware store or to the local car meet to share the history and background of the Kougar.Cosmetically the car is very striking (and clearly unique!) and has a lovely patina that is virtually impossible to duplicate on a newer vehicle or one that has undergone a "nut & bolt" restoration. This car will appeal to a new owner that is looking for the classic appearance of a 1950's / 1960's sports car / roadster that reminds us of a bygone era when cars had style and character. The Kougar is finished in its paint work; a color called "Golden Sand" and is accented with a darker hand pin-striping that was typical of the era. It is a very nice touch and adds to the overall charm of the car.The chrome wire wheels are in great condition as is the rest of the chrome and bright work which is also in good condition. This particular example also features a rear luggage rack. The interior is finished in Black vinyl a compliment of gauges including a Smiths tachometer and speedometer and racing style seat belts. Also included is a cover that can be used to cover the cockpit area when the car is not in use along with a rear tonneau cover. No side windows or soft weather gear are appropriate since clearly the Kougar is a fair weather car. This Kougar comes with documentation going back to new including the UK registration booklet showing ownership and Kougar manual. Registered as a 1967 year model this car is smog exempt in California. This Kougar 3.4S is an excellent value and a fascinating conversation piece. If you are looking for something different unique and very fun to drive this Kougar Jaguar is certainly a car to consider!!I have no written proof that the car was built at the Kougar plant but this is the story given to me. Thanks
