Description

This is a beautiful 1972 Jeep Commando. This model was a Jeep's answer to the initial success of the Ford Bronco. The 1972 marked the end of the traditional Jeep grill with round headlights and also sealed the fate of this model Jeep since ardent Jeep fans appreciate the traditional look. Since it did not live up to expectations it was therefore only produced for 1972 and 73. Most that remain in existence have been heavily modified and are vague images of the original. Mechanics - The engine is a newer 304 crate motor with less than 14. 00 miles. Runs strong and sounds great. Power steering works great as do the non-power breaks. Original leaf springs and newer shocks show standard factory height although the 31 inch tires do give some additional lift without significantly comprimising the original look. Automatic transmission works great when warm but a little harsh when cold. 4x4 works great although I've only used it once when I got the kids and I stuck in the sand at the lake. Vehicle always starts although will take some loving if she's sat for a week or so. Paint - Older single stage repaint 1999 Ford Medium and light Sonora Gold. Poor preperation on the top has caused some chipping that was covered with sealant to prevent rust. Body exterior and interior are great from 10 feet but show some wear up close. Color combination is classy and understated. Interior - Newer Ford Exploere Leather Power High-Back Seats. Rear seat is an original uncovered bench seat. Recently added roll-bar for safety. Has after-market CD player and speakers. Newer full carpeting with no wear. Exterior - After-market Steel Horse bumpers and nerf bars with custom paint color accent well. We are selling it because we are moving to a very cold and wet climate and will not have the storage space to keep it inside. In warm-dry climates it can be used in current condition as a very reliable daily driver.
