I bought this jeep as a daily driver, nd have wound up replacing nearly everything on it. Here are the basics- AMC V8, anual 4-speed, -inch suspension lift with 35's (less than 1,000 miles), inch, ustom bumpers.
First, he condition of the tub is actually quite good for a 77. Some rust around the lower wheel wells, ut other than that it is solid. Inside has been painted- appears to be a thin coat of bedliner. Outside has a few dings, ut is in good shape. It is a fine specimen for the year. New seats, ront and back. New bikini top. Soft top looks to be a few years old and has some wear, ut is solid.
ALL MECHANICAL WORK HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY DONE. Here is what I have added, ixed, r replaced:
Water pumpFuel pump and fuel filterNew champion aluminum radiatorExhaust gasket, il pan gasket, nd oil pump gasketTransmission, ncluding mounts and skid plateCrankcaseDriveshaftComplete suspension- springs, hocks, way bar, tc.Complete wiring kit- no more wiring gremlins!!!Utility rack on rearBedliner on bumpers and fender flaresPlasti-dip on front quarter panels and tailgate for a nice two-tone black appearance.Diamond plate rocker panels and rear corner. All total, have invested about $9,000 in this jeep so far. I can provide all invoices and service records, ncluding a reference at the shop that did the work.
Here is what needs to be done next, n order of priority:
Wheel bearings (1 month)Power steering (1-2 months)The rear end has a locker welded in place that needs to come off. (1-3 months)Motor conversion- the motor in it is the original and it purrs like a kitten, ut leaks oil. I drive it daily. I was planning to replace the motor in the next 6-8 months.Radio and speakers (whenever)A/C (if that is a priority to you- I run the bikini top in the summer and the fan with the soft top in the winter and that works for me).Once this list is done, his Jeep is safe, eliable, nd a solid asset. It is a head-turner. I have never had this jeep off road. Except for the time spent in the shop, t's been my daily driver. It stays covered in the rain. If you're looking for a solid project that someone else has started and done THE RIGHT WAY, nd want to take it the final mile, his is your Jeep. I hate to part with it, ut my employmentsituationdemands it.
