Description

1989 Range Rover (Classic) – 3.9L V8

***ADDED INFORMATION - 9/24/16 (1:00pm)***
Due to the number of questions and photo requests, I’ve added 40 more shots. The additions are really getting into granular detail. Just a reminder – the vehicle is being sold is 26 years old and shows signs of normal wear and tear. It is an outstandingly clean vehicle for it’s age and a solid driver.

New photos added to the bottom. New photos details include (in order):

  • Odometer reading
  • Undercarriage: Indicating normal/minimal surface rust — The same you'd expect to see on any vehicle newer or antique. For 26 years old, this is quite remarkable.
  • Known service records and owners manual
  • Passenger door pillar:This is the only spot on the exterior where I see any type of mild surface rust. It’s very small.
  • Passenger rear door: Close up of paint chipping.
  • Gas filler: Clean
  • Right/Rear corner scratch
  • Rear hatch: Small paint chip/peel
  • Rear lettering: Likely original lettering, show signs of cracking due to age.
  • More interior shots: Detail of leather and console
  • Original alloys and tires: Included with sale
  • Original Mud flaps and brackets: Included with sale
  • Scuffing behind bumpers: Due to general wear/tear

.

The truck is immaculately clean inside, outside and underneath. It’s always been garage kept and stays detailed. The paint has an amazing shine, all rubber seals and trim are in excellent shape and the leather interior is still looking great as well. Under the hood is an extremely clean engine compartment. I’ve taken over 100 photos (below) and tried to capture just how clean the truck is, inside and out. I get compliments all the time and people are amazed that it’s 26 years old. The only reason I'm selling is I have too many cars and don't drive this one enough.

I purchased the vehicle in April, 2014 from a dealer in Colorado and had it shipped to Austin, TX. The truck was used as a secondary vehicle, primarily on weekends, driving around town and/or driving to visit family 20 miles outside of town. Carfax tells me it spent it’s first 9 years in New Mexico and then was in Colorado until date of purchase. I received the car in great working condition, performed routine maintenance as needed and upgraded or replaced items to help with it’s restoration.

For those new to Range Rovers, this was the last of the years where things were much more simple and easy to work on (and inexpensive). The key features that drew me to this body style were the exposed door hinges, paddle door handles, the utilitarian-style dashboard, non-air based suspension system and the simplified braking system. Again, this all begins to change after 1989.

At time of purchase, I replaced the battery, changed the oil, etc. Within the last year, I’ve performed a greater tune-up including: plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, radiator flush, new main fuel filter, gas cap and both oxygen sensors.

Within the last six months I’ve replaced all 4 shocks, new rear coil springs and 4 coil spring spacers (.75”) to allow for slightly taller tires (225/75/r16). I replaced the factory wheels with brand new steel wheels, lug nuts and Kenda off road tires. As the suspension was being redone, I took the time to clean up and paint frame details as needed. Cosmetically, I recently replaced both bumpers and all 4 end caps. The rear vinyl corners and headliner were also redone and two new dome light covers were installed. None of the above has more than 250 miles on it.

Details I’m aware of:
Asyou’d expect from a 26 year old vehicle, it’s not perfect but is a solid, good driving vehicle. The paint and interior look great but scratches, dings, small dents and chips do exist. I’ve taken close-up photos to note these as best as possible. The EFI light has been on since I bought the truck and rarely goes off – It still drives great. The tachometer, clock and power door locks haven’t worked since my purchase and I’ve never looked into fixing them. The leather is cracking on the drivers arm rest. The AC worked until I decided to sell the vehicle and then it stopped working. I had the compressor and dryer replaced and updated to an R134 system but it’s still not working. My starting price is adjusted accordingly.

Regarding miles on the vehicle: The actual miles are unknown however I feel it’s 145,609. The odometer read 44,018 when I got it and currently reads 45,609.
