Highly original and with many period-appropriate upgrades, his 1985 Land Rover Defender 90 (SALLDVAC8AA238486) is a two owner truck that has been preserved in excellent condition over the past thirty years. A continental European example, t features left hand drive and a reliable 2.5 liter diesel engine that provides good torque off-road and a competent performance on pavement too.

The truck is in top mechanical shape, ith an excellent LT77 five-speed gearbox complemented by a solid clutch. Disc brakes up front and drums in the rear provide plenty of stopping power, hile the suspension has benefitted from fresh rear shocks fitted last summer. New u-joints and steering knuckles were also added at the time, long with a replacement rear exhaust section. The engine is a strong, fficient performer and does not smoke under operation, hough it does release a puff during cold starts as is typical of a diesel of this vintage. All electronics function properly except for the ammeter, hich is currently disconnected.

A very solid and straight body wearing mostly original paint, his Defender has the perfect balance of patina. It’s not too precious to hit the mud, et after a bath will look very presentable parked in town. Both doors were repainted last year and had the typical galvanic corrosion trouble spots professionally remediated at that time. Underneath, he original chassis and crossmembers are very solid and show only slight patches of surface corrosion. All four wheels and the full-size spare mounted on the rear door were refinished in gloss black for contrast and present in flawless condition. Other upgrades include a new gloss black fascia (grill and headlight surrounds), ew front and rear lights, ew side steps, nd new mirrors.

Inside, his Defender has received a full “County”-spec interior upgrade, eaturing six moorland cloth seats. They are in beautiful condition throughout, ith only slight cracking of the vinyl tops on two of the rear jump seats (all cloth is excellent and intact). Complementing the seats is a refurbished matching headliner, omplete with a working analog temperature gauge by the rearview mirror. The truck also has a sunroof up front, new set of rubber mats installed, nd a center console with a locking storage compartment. The original, omplete tool roll and jack are included, s is its former European license plate. All titles dating back to 1985 are present, nd the odometer currently reads 176,191 kilometers (109,480) miles.
