Description

If you have less than 25 feedback please contact us by phone before you place a bid. This auction is for a 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible with Suicide Doors. It is a fairly low production car being one of 3212 built that model year. I recently received this car in trade and will describe it to you as correctly as I can from what I see and what was told to me. The last owner of the car was a Carroll County Sheriff of New Hampshire that owned the car for a number of years. It was his personal driver for the summer months and special occasions. Always garaged. It has the original 430 V-8, utomatic Trans, ower Steering and Power Brakes. Other options include Power windows, ower Seat, ower Top, rivers Side Remote Mirror, inted Glass, M Radio, ower Antenna (missing) and Standard Leather Interior. For the most part the car is very original. It did have a cosmetic clean up done many years ago and still holding up quite well. It had a re-paint which is a cream beige in color and is a step up from driver quality (couple of minor scratches that were touched up). The car looks straight down both sides and with a buff and polish will shine up nicely. I asked the extent of any prior body work and was told that the very lower outer rear quarters were replaced with correct panels and that there were a few spots on the floors that were touched up. From what I can see, ooks like there were a few minor rust spots that were repaired and then glassed over (very minor). Rockers, races and all support areas look good and solid. The interior is stock original. Dash is in beautiful shape. Seats have the typical leather cracks and a couple of places that have split from age but still very serviceable. Carpets are in good shape and door panels are decent. There is a wood grain piece missing on the glove box and the other wood grain pieces on the door panels are showing age (these are available on Ebay). The convertible top material was pretty worn so it was removed and the top left down. It had been disconnected as they had the top frame out for prepping and was just set back in the car. Just for the heck of it we put some power to the relays and they all kicked in but you will need to hook it back up properly. The car runs down the road great and transmission shifts fine. I would say there is a little slop in the rear U-joint and should be addressed. The prior owner installed a set of P-215/75R14 Good Year Arriva Radials. They are like new tires but should have 235/75R14's in my opinion. The others just look a little small for the car. Lights, urn signals, ipers, tc all work. Power Windows work. Power seat works in a couple of positions but when you try to go back and forth the motor spins. Every now and then you can catch it just right so probably will need some tinkering with that. Should have a correct size battery as the one we have is pretty small for the car. The car has dual exhaust but has Cherry Bombs that exit out to the side in front of the rear tires. Some people might not like the throaty sound but I do. A correct pair of mufflers and tail pipes will take care of that. Over all this is an above average 62 Continental Convertible that you can get in, rive and enjoy now and fix it up better as you go along. Nice original ones are commanding higher prices each year and the every day working person is getting priced out of the market. This is a car that you can get in on the ground floor and wont break your wallet. Yes it needs a little TLC but is just money in the bank. We reserve the right to end the auction early in case of a local sale. If the car meets the reserve we will let the auction run to the end to be fair to all potential bidders. Will be sold with proper Maine dealer paper work and transferable registration and forms should you need a title in your state. We require $1000 non refundable deposit within 24 hours of the sale. Balance due within 3 days of auctions end. If you need more info or pics feel free to email or call us at 1-207-324-5568 Days or 1-207-432-2862 Eves and Sundays.
