1979 Lincoln Mark V Coupe, I was told it basically had two long term owners over its 37 year life. The fellow that owned it since 1991 passed away about 9 months ago and the car went to his long time friends family, which I purchased it from a couple of months ago. Odometer shows about 95600 miles, and I don't believe it ever went over. I was intending on fixing it up a bit and using it for a weekend driver but, plans have changed. Lack of indoor parking and no time are some of my factors. These cars sure are sleek.
The car is basically very solid and straight. It was repainted over a good rust free body about 6-7 years ago so I was told. Paint job looks good from about 8 feet plus away but, has plenty of orange peel and other minor finish imperfections when up close. Again, nice body! A good color sand/buff may be the answer or just enjoy it the way it is.
Chrome and stainless all decent and presentable or better, simulated convertible top is showing age but, in good overall condition for a 1979 model. Leather seats are basically nice, especially rear seats, drivers seat shows some wear. Headliner and carpet are good, drivers and passenger door panels have some cracks. Dash is nice. Trunk and liner in very good shape. Owners manual included.
Car has been sitting in garage for a quite awhile so, tires will need replacing as they are just plain old, brakes should be checked for safety, belts and hoses should be changed as needed, tune up, carburetor needs cleaned/overhauled (I have new rebuild kit) etc etc. Air Conditioner will need Freon service. Engine does run good and quiet aside from needing a tune up, trans shifts well and seems to stop OK too. Engine oil is clean. Nice ride, aside from old dry tires.
Most of the electrical devises/options all work as they should. Power seat(s)and passenger window not currently working. I bought a new seat switch but, have not installed it (it will be included).
Car can be a nice driver with a little TLC, and not too much $, realistically priced.
NOTE: I have 4x of the stock disk type Lincoln wheel covers which I can exchange for current wire type presently on car, should you prefer?
