Description

1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II

Thank you for taking a look at our 1956 Lincoln Mark II. With beautiful 1950's styling and an original starting price of nearly $10,000, the Mark II was the flagship for the brand. Continental, then it's own brand was started to compete with the much more expensive hand built sports cars from Europe. Much of the car was over-engineered and you can still feel the build quality today. The long hood and short trunk lid are iconic for the time period and show off the great proportions of the design. As only 2,550 were ever made, this is truly a rare American sport coupe. Our car started out life in Briar Brown Metallic - a dark root beer type color much more appropriate and befitting to the car than the gold that a previous owner chose. The interior looks to be complete and potentially original to the car except for the gold shag carpet but we are unsure what came with the car originally. Mechanically, the car runs and drives very well. We've rebuilt the carburetor, master cylinder and brake booster. Replaced the fuel fill hose and cleaned out the gas tank along with replacing the wheel cylinders and hoses on all four corners. And of course, we've replaced the battery. The car has a Mallory Magneto distributor and an electric lift pump. We tested all of the running lights and they work, as do all of the power windows. We do know that the exhaust and tires need replaced at some point. Whether you plan to enjoy the car as is, or pull it apart for a complete restoration, this car is very complete so your parts list should be minimal. Please send us a message if you'd like to see the car in person!
