Description
This Maserati Bora represents a rare opportunity to acquire a turn-key spectacularly restored late production 4. 9Litre US version car. The car and the photos speak for themselves and I strongly encourage a personal inspection of the car. I am located very near Chicago's O'Hare Airport and am available any time for inspection. Spectacularly restored in all respects. Engine. Transaxle & Driveline by Evans Automotive in Columbus. OH (over $50k in receipts); Paint by Kinney's in Lexington. KY; Suspension & Hydraulics by Excelsior Motors in Midway. KY. Car is flawless in every way. All work is fully documented with a comprehensive file of receipts. I have been a collector of Maserati Automobiles since the mid-1980's when I acquired a pair of 3500GTI Vignale Cabriolets and have owned virtually every model of Maserati GT cars. When I set my sights on adding a Bora to my collection. I sought out the very best that I could find and this is that car. What I failed to do was to confirm that I fit comfortably in the car. I am 6'7" tall and have found every Maserati I have owned to be exceedingly comfortable for me so I naturally assumed the same would be true of the Bora. Alas. the reality is that the Bora lacks head room for my body so I can not drive the car comfortably for very long periods of time. This would certainly not be an issue for anyone who is under 6'2" in height. The prior owner of this car was absolutely fanatical about achieving perfection with the car. Accordingly. he entrusted the car to the very best shops for all elements of work that was performed on the car. The body work was done by Kinney's Auto Body in Nicholasville. KY and is comprehensive in all respects. This car has always been red. Every body component was removed and painted inside and out to a level exceeding the original finish. The engine. Transaxle and Driveline was entrusted to Evan's Automotive in Columbus. OH. The comprehensive and meticulous service is evident as soon as you turn the key and the engine fires without delay. running smooth and strong without any drama. The car is a delight to drive with all elements working properly. smooth clutch action. smooth and quiet transmission shifts. no smoke. no hesitations. no leaking fluids. Everything is just perfect. The suspension and hydraulic work was performed by Citroen Specialist David Hume of Excelsior Motors in Midway. KYThe car is running on extremely attractive aftermarket wheels of unknown manufacturer (we suspect these are Campagnolo however. there are no external markings and we have not dismounted a tire). The Spare is the OEM style wheel and I have confirmed that brand new OEM style wheels are available at a cost of around $5. 00 including center caps. lug nuts. etc. Frankly. I feel that the aftermarket wheels that are on the car are more attractive than the OEM wheels and contribute to making this a spectacular package. In fact. I would value these aftermarket wheels equal or greater than the OEM wheels since they are today much more rare and unobtainable. I have not investigated the complete provenance of this car however; this is what I know:Prior owner acquired from Frank Mandarano (MIE)Original Owner was based in Bay Area of CaliforniaPrior to acquisition by Mr. Mandarano. the California based owner did use the car in competition events where the car sustained some failure of the rear sub-frame (now fully repaired or replaced). Car comes with tools and manuals as well as a comprehensive file of receipts and related documentation and paperwork. I can assist with world-wide shipping arrangements.
