This 560SEL presents well in Dark Blue over Palomino interior. It has a few cosmetic needs, ncluding some light damage to the rear panel as well as on the right quarter panel. Please see the photos for details. The structure is sound and we see no evidence of severe corrosion underneath. There is however, ome rot in the front bumper and it should be changed out. There is a spot of damaged paint on the hood, bout 1.5 inches in diameter. Otherwise the car is straight, he panels fit well, nd it looks very good. Inside, he Palomino tan seats and carpets are in very good condition with no cracking or splitting in the upholstery. Carpets and mats are excellent. There is only minimal wear on the driver's seat and armresd and there is a small crack on the left hand side of the dash. The wood trim is complete but average. The heat and AC system work very well, ven in automatic mode, nd the power adjustable rear seat functions properly. There are a couple of bad window switches and the aftermarket radio is inoperative. Please note that the odometer stopped working (a very common issue on these) about 1,000 miles ago. Mechanically, he 5.6 liter V8 runs strong. The idle is high due to a fault in the idle control circuit, ut once in drive the car runs beautifully and the transmission shifts crisply up and down. The ride is good, ut it would benefit from an alignment. It also needs a tie rod end and front brake rotors/pads due to lack of use over the past year. With its needs aside, his really is a good, onest example, e have owned Mercedes of this era in the past (including bad ones!) and we know how a car with good bones should feel, nd this is one of them. With minimal investment, his will make a very satisfying classic that can be used regularly. |
