This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E comes in a charcoal exterior color and a black leather interior with wood trim. It also features gorgeous BBS AMG Aero II wheels which perfectly compliment its aggressive appearance.
Originally imported from Japan, this particular vehicle was built with a number of standard and factory options including: Recaro seats, a power sliding sunroof with tilting, power front seats with driver memory, heated front seats, an electric rear window roller blind, power windows and more.It also has a Sony head unit with a 6CD changer, MP3, etc.
It is easily distinguishable from the standard E class in part due to its much more aggressive, yet elegant stance. The track was widened by 1.5 inches, the body was lowered by nearly an inch, and Mercedes added flared fenders, wider tires, an air dam on the front fascia and side skirts at the wheelbase.
It has 4-speed automatic transmission and a 5.0L V8 engine derived from the 500SL roadster producing 322 HP and 354 lb-ft of torque. The 500E also got high-performance disc brakes with 300mm four-piston front calipers from the 500SL.We have many service records for this vehicle as well. Comes with 2 keys.
Built by Porsche / Some History
The 500E was a high-performance sedan offered by Mercedes-Benz which was developed and built in close cooperation with Porsche. Each 500E was hand-built at Porsche’s Rössle Bau factory in Zuffenhausen, the same specialized plant that built the legendary Porsche 959.
The car’s distinctive appearance, its limited productions numbers (particularly in the United States), its hand-built Porsche construction and unique pedigree have made this Mercedes-Benz a classic and will continue to become a collector favorite for years to come. With only ~1,500 sold in the United States between 1991 and 1994, the 500E is increasingly rare on the used market.
It is one of the most well-respected sports sedans in automotive history and a sleeper in the true sense of the word. It was dubbed a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” by the automotive media. Mercedes called it “The Velvet Hammer” and no description could’ve been more appropriate: the 500E met all the criteria of a German luxury sedan, but still retained the excitement of a German rocket sled.
