Description

This is a well-kept, low mileage, classic Mercedes-Benz 500SL. The car is in good shape with a great engine/drivetrain. Exterior is in good shape and the paint is great on most of the car, however as seen in the pictures, the top of the trunk has signs of sun-fading. Interior very good with normal signs of wear for age, leather seats in overall really good shape. The car runs and drives great and multiple hydraulic cylinders that work the soft-top (notorious for leaking) were just replaced this past month with 10yr guarantee from shop (now no leaks!). Oil was changed and car inspected at the Mercedes dealer. I want to be fully honest about any issues the car has so please view the comments below and contact me with any questions!

Engine/powertrain are great and it ran flawlessly just last month. However, the battery was replaced when the leaky soft-top cylinders were replaced. When the new battery as hooked up it was hooked backwards (reversed polarity) for apparently only a second. However, that caused a few electronic malfunctions. Immediately after that, some dash lights are on, one parking light stays on, the convertible components all work but it won’t go up since it’s out of sync in the cycle, but the hardtop can still be removed so you can still use the car as a convertible until the electronic issues are fixed. It now has a slight lope sometimes at idle but runs flawlessly at normal driving rpm’s. I assume the timing is just off due to battery mishap affecting an electronic component. However, only minor electronic items need to be fixed, but due to that reason, I am willing to sell the car for MUCH less than it’s truly worth. The car was my mother-in-law’s and it was passed to me. I already have another Mercedes that needs work and I can’t keep both. My loss will be your gain.

Here are YouTube links of the car so that you can see it running and driving for yourself.
