Up for sale is a nice example of a '72 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 6cyl. sedan. This car was restored in the late 90's in the Chicago area and was purchased by my father who lived in Phoenix. I drove it out to him where the car stayed until his death in 2007. Since then it has been in my care. It has always been garaged and has not seen rain or snow. The time has come for me to part with it. So - here's what I can tell you about it:
It runs and drives out great. Brakes, shocks, radiator, fluids, front wheel bearings, belts, filters, water pump, steering shock, engine shock, motor mounts, transmission mount and shifter linkage bushings have all been changed. All the wood trim on the doors has recently been stripped and freshly varnished.
She does use some oil (not entirely uncommon for this motor), and will eventually need a valve job as all of these motors are subject to.
The AC does NOT work. It is set up to work with r134A and worked while my dad had the car. I'm sure a recharge would do the trick. I never looked into it because I didn't need to use it.The radio does work, but it has a mind of its own. I believe that the connection from the antenna to the radio is suspect. The dimmer rheostat is also a bit finicky but does work most of the time.
The car is NOT an original MB color! The color is '91-'94 Porsche Horizon Blue. This car was originally white. The interior is original MB tex and does not have any tears in it. The front seats could stand to be re-padded and the carpet is showing its age. All in all, this is a respectable example of a 47 year old car.
There are a few spots in the paint on the front right fender that are thin?, reacted with the primer? (see pictures).More pictures available upon request. Grill badges are NOT included in sale.
Serious buyers only please.A non-refundable deposit required within 48hrs through Paypal. Remainder of payment in cash or cashier's check is appreciated. Car and title will NOT be released until payment is received and authenticated. Buyer is responsible for pickup/transport of vehicle. No trades considered. I'm happy to disclose as much about the car as possible. If you want a nice reliable head turner this car is it. It is NOT a show car by any means, but it is a fun car to drive.
