A bit of info about these cars:

Series production of the 4-door sedan began in August 1959, which made its debut at theFrankfurt Auto Showin autumn. Initially the series consisted of the 220b, 220Sb, and 220SEb. These replaced the 219 W105, the 220S W180 and the 220SE W128 Ponton sedans respectively. The 220b was an entry-level version with little chrome trim, simple hubcaps, and basic interior trim that lacked pockets on doors. Prices wereDM16,750, 18,500 and 20,500, with a rough sales ratio of 1:2:1.

All models shared the 2195ccstraight-six enginecarried over from the previous generation, producing 95hp (71kW) at 4800 rpm and capable of accelerating the heavy car to 160km/h (155 if fitted with optionalautomatic gearbox). The 220Sb featured twincarburettorsand produced 110hp (82kW) at 5000 rpm, raising top speed to 165km/h (103mph) (160km/h (99mph)) and improving 0–100km/h acceleration to 15 seconds (16 on the 220b). The top range 220SEb featuredBoschfuel injectionproducing 120hp (89kW) at 4800 rpm, with top speed of 172km/h (107mph) (168km/h (104mph) for auto) and a 0–100km/h in 14 seconds.

A 2-door coupe/cabriolet version of the W111/W112 was also produced beginning in 1961.
