Description
It is time to sell my meticulously maintained 1988 560SL. All original. Runs and drives great. Everything works on it mechanically and electrically except for the passengers side vanity mirror light. Just installed a new alternator. Clean title in hand and just got it smogged. In fact smog inspection report shows that it is running super clean. well below the average limits. I believe I am the 3rd owner of this fine vehicle. Has both tops. Soft top is in perfect condition and the plastic windows are clear. Hard top is also in perfect condition as well. no rips or tears in the headliner. Rear defroster works. No leaks anywhere with either top. Car drives rock solid. Had the original radio rebuilt and they added a jack for an ipod. iphone. mp3 player etc. Had over $5500 of work done in 2010. that included a major service. transmission filter. transmission pan gasket. replaced transmission fluid. replaced drive belts. new EHA valve. new ball joints. new motor mounts R&L. new sub-frame mounts. new upper control arms R&L. new front and rear shocks. front and rear wheel alignment. new distributor cap. new rotor. new ignition wire set. I have only driven 4000 miles since this work has been performed by a local Mercedes specialist. Drivers seat has a rip in the panel closest to the door and the armrest cover needs to be replaced. but that is really the only drawback of the interior. Besides that the seats have a nice patina of a 27 year old car. Carpeting is excellent as are the door panels and dashboard. The body is in excellent condition. no dings. scratches or scrapes and the paint is really as shiny as the pictures show. It must have been in some fender bender in the last 20 years as I noticed that the front crossmember was replaced because they restamped the VIN twice (see photos) on it as they messed up one letter. There is no evidence today whatsoever that it was ever in any sort of mishap. It runs and drives that well. It was repainted at that time as well. The paint quality is really outstanding overall. There is a small area behind the fuel door and a little dot on the trunk lid that look to be maybe something under the paint. maybe not completely prepped when they repainted the vehicle. You can see it in the pictures. I do not really even notice them as they are so close to being as nice as the rest of the paint job. I am just letting you know that it is there as I do not want to hide anything. None of this detered me from buying the car in the first place as the car is really in that terrific shape. Please do not let the couple of flaws keep you from considering this beautiful car. I am setting what I believe to be a pretty low reserve because of the minor issues. I personally have been burned on buying cars on ebay in the past and the cars I have sold on ebay I am very proud to have owned. This one probably the most. I take extremely good care of my vehicles and want to be honest and fair. This car has absolutely no rust anywhere. Always garaged. Non smoker. I get compliments on it every where I go. Has original tool pouch and first aid kit and all manuals and 2 original keys. Also comes with hard top stand with cover and hard top winch. Always used original Mercedes parts whenever I needed to repair anything. She is in the very desirable color combination of blue green/creme beige. Don't see too many on the road in this color combo. This car cost close to $70k when new. No road rash on any of the wheels. A/C blows ice cold. Transmission shifts flawlessly. Car has tons of power and is a blast to drive. I want it to go to a good home where it will be loved and driven more than I have had time to unfortunately. More pictures available on request. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions. I have the current CARFAX and Autocheck history reports as well. If you are looking to get into a classic Mercedes 560sl for not a lot of money that looks like a million bucks. then this is the car for you. Happy bidding! On May-01-15 at 09:32:52 PDT. seller added the following information:Forgot to mention that this has been a Southern California car its entire life. hence the no rust. If you would like specific pictures taken of anything on the vehicle I will be more than happy to provide them. I have set the reserve at a very reasonable price and if for some reason it does not meet the reserve. I would surely be willing to talk to anyone interested before I relist it. Thanks again.
