Description

AN EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE OF A 1989 MERCEDES BENZ 560SL ROADSTER! This year of the Mercedes Benz 560SL Roadster is the most desirable of all the factory designated "107 BODIED" Mercedes-Benz convertibles. WHY? Because. it is considered to be the last. and the best of “True Mercedes” breed. 1989 represents the very last of this series ending a 20 year run. Production books reveal that only 5. 51 Mercedes 560 SL'S were built that year. My car is finished in shiny polished black exterior paint with gorgeous chrome emblems and details. The exterior paint is nearly flawless. On the inside. the conservative and striking "ANTHRACITE GRAY" Light gray leather and a like-new original soft top (almost never used). It carries the correct “Chicken track” headliner and clear rear window. The removable hard top is in excellent condition and is. of course. included with this purchase. My Mercedes is sporting the European style single headlights. This car also has the rare & optional rear seat and the optional AMG rear spoiler. I would fairly rate this car a 1. 5 to 2. 0 in condition (Not quite a show car because it has been driven). This car has ALWAYS been garage kept and NEVER driven during winter months. It has NEVER travelled a salty road. It has never been smoked in either. Since I have owned this car. I have always placed it in winter storage from November 1st till the end of April. In fact. I am going to drive the car out of storage today. I am the second owner of this car. The original owner of this car purchased it from Loeber Motors in Lincolnwood. Illinois. as a gift for his wife. It was ALWAYS garage-kept by the couple. The wife drove the car for a short time and then decided to preserve the car to be given to their son when he had grown. As will happen in life. the son didn’t want the car after all. This couple had decided to move out of state and didn’t want to move an extra car. so the car was released for sale to the public. and that is when I bought it. The paint and interior are excellent with the exception of one or two small screw holes on the passenger side of the console where a car phone had once been mounted. (This is a 1989 auto… Ha!) Even the trunk is in great condition (So often seen stained and cobbled). It carries the original unused first aid kit. spare tire. and tools and the tires are Pirelli’s in excellent condition. It has travelled only 1700 miles per year since delivery new and has just turned a little over 46. 00 original miles. This is the perfect car for your significant other. or for yourself as a great personal reward for years of hard work. If you have followed this series of Mercedes Benz. you already know that they have a reputation. when cared for. as being “BULLET PROOF” (Unbreakable). for extended service and very few repairs. THE STORY: The R-107 Body Style had the Longest and Largest Production Run of any single Body Style in Mercedes-Benz History. It experienced. and survived. an amazing 500% price increase from its inception in 1985 to its culmination in June 1989. It broke many records: It was the First Two Passenger Automobile to sell 200% above the price of a Cadillac and still survive the slump of the U. S. Dollar and double-digit inflation totaling 300%. yet. remain Tops in Sales. Despite its hefty weight at 3. 80 lbs. it is known for its spirited performance from a 279 hp. Five Liter Alloy V8. It can hit 0-60 mph. in 8 sec with a Top Speed of 137 mph. One of the reasons this car was so popular was that it was 'Target Marketed' to Baby Boomers with an expendable income of $50. 00 to $500. 00. Another of the reasons for its success was because the number of Millionaires in the USA grew from 1972 to 1980 an amazing 263%. Millionaire status was achieved by an amazing 574. 42 people. The 560SL meets and greets any expectations as a great Daily Driver and it is written by many Auto Magazines that most ownership is long-term on these great cars. The 560SL model actually exceeded their own window sticker in resale value 10-15 years ago until MBZ finally produced a suitable replacement in 2001. By all indications they may be once again. on the rise and the current times make a great time to buy a really nice one. You'll find these for sale either high-mileage & 'beat to death' or low-mileage babied and loved. you just found one of the babied ones. The last of the true. (pre Chrysler) Mercedes-Benz. They satisfied more owners longer than any other marque for resale value. quality. prestige and nostalgia. The 560SL Mercedes-Benz Roadster. Serious potential buyers are more than welcome to make arrangements to view and inspect the car before purchasing it. Bring your mechanic or Mercedes Benz authority with you. I have nothing to hide. I have decided to sell this car because I was actually looking to purchase a Corvette when I stumbled across this car. While this is a great car. it still isn’t the Corvette my heart yearns for. Therefore. I am releasing this car for sale and will replace it with my ideal Corvette.
