Description

Introduced in the Spring of 1971 the all new Mercedes-Benz SL or codename R107 was introduced as a personal luxury sports car. Nicknamed der Panzerwagen “Armored Car” weighing in at more than 3400 pounds was a completely new body shape for model year 1972. A completely new SOHC 4.5 litre V8 engine was housed underneath the long sculpted hood and mated to a 3-Speed automatic transmission. 1981 model year saw the launch of the 380SL model which introduced the new aluminum 3.8 litre V8 engine. It was much lighter and more efficient but still retained its predecessor’s excellent performance characteristics. With more luxury refinements and driver comforts the 380SL became the must have luxury performance roadster. However which way the driver chose to drive the car hardtop soft top or top down the SL was the epitome of classic luxury sports motoring.

European Motor Studio is proud to offer this beautiful 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Roadster finished in Astral Silver Metallic over Blue leather interior. This 380SL left the Mercedes-Benz -Stuttgart factory in January of 1984 and was then invoiced to Mercedes-Benz North America. Sold new by Laurel Motors INC in Westmont IL in April of 1984 this 380SL has only seen 2 owners since and has been very well maintained. The Silver paint is in excellent condition and shows only a couple small scrapes as pictured bellow. The paint still has a nice shine to it and does not show any fade or damage. The leather interior is in excellent condition and the seats show very light wear. There are no scrapes or tears in the leather and the carpets are free from any stains or damage. The wood is in excellent condition only showing one small hairline crack in the wood. The dash does have a cap over it and is in excellent condition. The trim and chrome are all original and in excellent condition showing very light wear. The convertible top is the original factory top from new and in excellent condition (there are a couple small patches in the top that have been fixed) and still operates with ease. The hardtop is in excellent condition and free from any damage. This 380SL starts right up and runs strong. It idles well and does not smoke or leak. It pulls strong through acceleration and the transmission shifts smooth without any hesitation or noises. The suspension and steering feel nice and tight and free from any noises or vibrations. The brakes feel nice and solid and free from any grinding or fade. All of the electronics appear to be operating as designed including all of the lights windows mirror locks and original Becker radio (the power antenna works but only goes up half way). This 380SL comes with its original owners manual and service booklet along with 2 of its original Mercedes Huff keys first aid kit and hardtop key. There is no rust anywhere on the car and there is no evidence of any previous damage. The tires have about 60% tread life left and the car comes with a clean and clear title. This is an excellent well maintained 380SL that would make an excellent weekend cruiser.
