Description

1971 Mercedes Benz 350SL

Two owners 82111 original miles in superb original condition. The first year of production for this iconic Mercedes available only in Europe this car was first purchased by an American Army General and used sparingly around the Base in Germany. The car left Germany with it’s owner in the mid 1980’s and eventually passed on to it’s second Army Brass owner stationed in Texas.

There is no evidence of rust or accident repair and is in amazing condition to be credited to it’s limited use (less than 2000 miles per year) and fastidious care and service by 2 gentlemen who took their ownership of this car very seriously.

The interior shows virtually no wear on the original carpets dash doors and seat covers all which are original. There is a non-factory Kenwood radio and CD player properly installed. All the instruments are in beautiful condition and function properly.

The car has been painted once probably 20 years ago and the paint is in very good condition. The Silver color is original to the car and the original paint is still present in the door jambs. The engine bay is both very presentable and very original the trunk is remarkably free of even the slightest surface corrosion and still wearing it’s original black paint and carpeting.

The undercarriage and chassis of the car are in excellent original and rust-free condition still wearing it’s extra clean factory undercoating. The car has both the original factory hard top and a new black canvas top. All the chrome is original and very presentable.

The car was recently serviced and there are no known needs. Ready to drive anywhere. The 3.5 liter V-8 engine supplies abundant power and very good gas mileage and drives and handles wonderfully.

Values for these very rare “First Year of Production” 107R SL’s are just only beginning to rise but are surely “Blue Chip” bets as their older siblings the 190SL and the 230/250/280SL’s are fetching prices over $200000.00 and are no more attractive and much less driver-friendly than the rare and stunning 350SL.
