I am selling my Garaged non smoking one owner 1978 Mercedes 300D. The car was purchased new in East Rochester New York at Irmer Mercedes for $19000. The car is Medium Red code 516 with Bamboo code 104 Mercedes Benz Tex (vinyl) interior. The only extra was a Electrically Operated Sliding Roof code 410 for $572. An additional feature is that the car had "Sym-Tech Protective Coating when new for $168. The car was pampered. I have in my hand a book of 60 Service records from day one to current. Miles are exact and track perfectly. The car was kept up like a prized possession. The car has had every service need and then some. Updated to be a modern daily driver using tips from the Mercedes Benz Club. Pencil type new glow plugs made to operate on a switch that illuminates the glow plug light on the dash so the driver can determine the amount of glow needed. This also avoids complications with the glow plug relay and old school loop style plugs. The second very important update is the Automatic Climate Control Servo has been replaced with the new digital system that is simply amazing!! The system takes the mechanical electrical and vacuum Servo along with the Servo amplifier that has been an issue for these cars since new and it replaces it with a modern digital system that uses the 3 sensors to fine tune the temperature inside the cabin. It works perfectly since this car had no vacuum leaks or issues to begin with. It was done to prevent issues stated in the forums. The air conditioning water drains out of the car in a line and puddles up under the car as it was intended. The heat and climate control works wonderful. Add the huge sunroof and you are in heaven. The Air conditioning system is the new R134 with no leaks. The auxiliary fan is operational. The third update is the plug that goes into the factory port in the back of the original radio to allow you to plug any device in that has a headphone jack. I play my music using my cell phone through the original Becker Europa II and factory speakers. I have a Classic Car Business and was lucky enough to obtain this vehicle from my the original owners Son. The original owner passed I believe it was 2010 so the car stayed in a super garage for years until I found it. I specialize in Mercedes Benzes and know them inside and out. I share this so you know I am a professional in the Mercedes industry owning over 500 in my Career to date. I put on brand new Bendix front calipers pads and hardware and new brake hoses on all 4 corners. Rear brakes are like new. The steel wheels are spotless. I added 4 new tires and balanced them on both sides to ensure proper balance. The tire size is 185/70R14 all matching tires. The speedometer is accurate and was checked using GPS 55 is 55. The spare tire jack and all tools are in the trunk compartment. The emergency brake works properly. The hub caps have no curb marks and the paint on them is new. The shocks have less than 20k miles. The car rides like brand new. The exhaust system is spotless with no issues at all. The suspension parts are in excellent condition front and rear. The full size battery is strong as new. I repainted the battery tray when the Digital Automatic Control was installed. The fuel tank does not leak when filled. The car gets over 25 Miles Per Gallon all around. The transmission on the car is a 4 speed automatic that from the records has been serviced religiously. I tell you that this transmission is the finest shifting transmission in a Diesel Mercedes I have ever felt. No delays no hard shifts no extended shift. PERFECT!!!! I mean it. Some typical wetness is common and it may make a drop but noting to be concerned about at all. The rear end functions without flaws and is also not leaking. EVERY option functions on the car with the only exception being the cruise control. It will work when it is ready. When it is not it will not hold speed. The headlights fog lights turn signal lights hazard lights reverse lights and license plate lights are tested and work. The horn works. All power windows go all of the way up and all of the way down. The power antenna works as it should. The windshield wipers work as well as the washers. The rear defogger work. Dome lights work. The lighter functions. The vacuum door locks work and operate the locks for all doors the trunk and fuel door. Cosmetics: The car is clean. The sides have been repainted along the way with single stage medium red. Over 10 years ago. The hood has been repainted and shows age and polish wear. The trunk lid is excellent. The roof is excellent. The sides are super. Notice the chrome bumpers and grill are brilliant. The trim is in very nice shape. The tail lights are original and new looking. The car gets positive attention since it is a beauty! The interior is nice and clean. Never smoked in or abused. The carpets are fresh and clean. The is a normal amount of wear on the drivers seat but the other seat are like new. The door panels are clean and soft. The dash has no cracks at all. The console is very clean. The back dash has no major fade and the first aid door is in pretty good shape. You won't believe your eyes when you see the zebrano wood trim. As new! The steering wheel has the texture as if it is new. All bulbs in the entire cluster and dash for any instruments and climate control are working. Even the shift selector letters illuminate. All of the gauges operate and are crystal clear. No stone chips or issues on the windshield. The visors are clean and stay up nice. The headliner is spotless and not sagging. I took out all of the panels in the trunk to show just how clean this example is. The mat is soft and supple and there is not a spot of rust. Even under the spare is spotless. I took out the carpets and there is no rust on the floors as well. The underside is so clean. There have been a few chips touched up and there are some flaws common with age.
