Description

Sorry, removed the original listing because the description did not pop up automatically, nd too many people were asking questions that were in the description, nd they also wanted more pictures. I had a buy it now price and a low reserve, ut something got messed up in my several attempts to load pictures, nd the buy it now and reserve was not there. I am now doing a no reserve auction with a starting price that is fair competition to other 300TD's that are oneBay. Of courseeBaydoes not allow links in auctions any more, ven to see pictures, do not know how some people are doing it. Email me and I will send you a link to the undercarriage pictures. (I am only allowed 24)
Please read the full description, nd feel free to ask any questions. I just do not want any confusion about the car.
Sadly, but I know she'll go to a good home,) we are selling our 'Ellie'. A 1979 300td. TD stands for touringdiesel, his is the actual million mile motor that is so described by Mercedesdieselwagon buffs. The OM617 non turbo I5 motor. We bought the car to be our son's first car, nd to be a long distance travel car. This car, y the way, s a great first car for a new driver! You cannot race it! it is a tank, nd, t is reliable! She soon became our regular dependable, ith a great carbon footprint. Now, ith Kids moving out, eeding the money, nd not needing anything so big, e decided to sell her. She came up to Portland with the original owner from San Diego in 2001, nd she has all her manuals, ncluding the vin stamped owners manual. The original owner took her to a local Mercedes repair shop Omega Motors, nd I kept her going to the same place. I do not have many paper receipts, ut the owner of Omega motors knows her well, nd has all the info on her. Since I have owned her, he front suspension was replaced, he loadlevelingsuspension was repaired, he A/C was converted to R-134, nd blows nice and cold; slow for the air to get going for the old girl, ut nice and cold . She had regular oil and Filter changes, nd recently had all new glow plugs installed. The Central locking fully works (if you lock / unlock the driver's door, ll doors lock / unlock properly. A little slow to unlock if the car sits for a long time, ut they do open!) The rear wiper and washer work, ll power windows work. The sunroof opens and closes well, nd the rear tail gate needs no stick! (kinda common for these wagons) A few months ago I had new front brakes, otors and wheel bearings installed.I had oil seepage at the oil pan, ut when the alignment was done after the suspension the Mechanic tightened the pan bolts, nd I have not seen any other seepage since. Now for the bad, here really is not a lot bad. Mostly cosmetic. The rear hatch lock is really sticky, u t since the central locking works, don't really use it. The black paint is fading in places, as a little surface rust, ike around the edges of the sunroof, nd a small 8mm rust patch under the left rear fender, ehind the wheel and that is the only 'big' rust patch. all other rust is light surface rust, nd mostly on exposed parts (like the axle shafts and exhaust.). The paint is original, s far as I can tell, have not had any body work done other than buffing the paint out.. The trim around the door windows have dried and shrunk, See pics) but you can still buy the trim from Mercedes, r an independent Mercedes interior supplier online. Or, s I have seen in othereBayads, he owners just peeled them off and revealed a painted door. I did not want to peel them off, wanted to leave the car as original as possible. The driver's door mirror cover is coming off (see pictures), nd I have a new one which I will include. I did not replace it because I was waiting to repair the door trim. The Pillars behind the front seats are fading and do not look their best. I bought two replacements, which I will include) but they need to be dyed. Palomino is not the same color as Bamboo. The seats are great, he carpet is great, xcept for wear in the back hatch carpet. The power antenna does not go down. It used to go up and down, ust not fully. So I asked Google, nd found out how to take it apart. Well, he antenna motor hums, ut the antenna does not go down. The cruise control will accelerate with the controls, ut does not hold speed.I live in the country and this 4th of July weekend, llie was the victim of a musket ball to the windshield. (see pictures by the passenger wiper) I do not know which neighbor shoots muskets, ut I have the ball, nd the windshield to show it was one of my neighbors. I can price it out, ut the car was parked, nd my insurance on the car was deactivated at the time of the incident.I am most certainly not a trained Mercedes mechanic, have had the car for about a year and I would easily drive this car across the country. I have been very happy with my mechanic that I have. The car starts the first time, very time with 1/4 throttle on cool to warm days, nd 1/2 throttle on icy days, nd gets GREAT gas mileage. I have had 32 highway going on long trips! The car came with monogrammed floor mats, nd I just kept using them. I will keep them in the car as well.
Thank you for looking, lease know she is not perfect, ut she is a great car!
Cheers!
I will be replacing the windshield and rubber moulding on Monday July 20th, o the windshield will be fixed.
