Description

One off example of a racer/driver, echanically running (started a month ago) Mercedes SL. The car has been in our family since 2007 in dry storage - I have never driven it and purchasedfrom a used car dealer in upstate Pennsylvania. The dealer I purchase it from believed it to be a retired race car,as evidenced by the competition-style gas tank with the fill spout in the trunk and the fact that many of the trim parts are plastic; the interior has also been stripped to save weight. There are also trophies that came with this vehicle in the trunk. The car includes some limited paperwork from the 280 conversion. It is titled as a W123 with a twin cam work horse engine, our speed manual transmission but looks mostly like a W113. In order to list it on EBAY, e estimated the chassis to be possibly a 1965 model. The car has several new parts: brake master cylinder reservoir, ew clutch slave and master cylinder, ewer aftermarket fog lights, tc. Please notice bundt-style wheels. This looks like the logo car for the former Pagoda group web site—use your imagination and install a roll bar and decals on the doors and you’re off to the races. Car came with no steering wheel; we obtained anOK one to use and there is a second one in the trunk. We also changed the racing style ignition switch to a universal one to make it more street legal.

The car has not been driven on the road since we bought it. Paint has some minor scratches - a dime size blister on hood (pictured) and some misfired clear coat (probably buff out) - hood will have to be realigned and eventually repainted. One longer scratch on left side front fender towards the bottom. Car has no exterior chrome trim except for trunk star, gain as a weight-saving measure for racing purposes. Car needs windlass therefore windows are loose in their tracks. Driver’s window is race-ready plexiglass and needs some hardware tightening.Interior looksOK for 50 year-old car. Headliner needs to be cleaned. We found a parcel box and ashtray and installed. The Belgium coupe kinder seat was also present when we purchased the car. The seat belts need to be reinstalled. There is some wear and tear on doors and dash. Stainless steel plates are installed where the radio would mount and on the dash where the ducts for the heater would be—these elementswere all removed, gain for racing weight. Clock present but not working, ll other gauges are present. I am throwing a radio ina rare Becker AM/FM cassette that my Mercedes mechanic found and bought for us. Vinyl seat covers could use a redo but ok for driver-level car; non-original carpet. There are obvious repairs on the floor underneath that seem presentable. We installed a new W107 fuel pump to get the car running. Most tools and bag are present and a box of misc. hardware, iring and extra parts in the trunk with a scissor jack and 280 manual, riginal rubber floor mats.

Car has no rust. Has hard top only. Some chrome trim pieces are missing, ut easily replaceable.

I have more pictures - please email me if you would like to see more detail or call 610/283-4584 with questions.

Overall this is a driver car that runs – brakes need to be redone from sitting. With a little restoration this car can be a cool head turner. Racing type muffler gives it a throaty sound. In the summer time just remove hardtop and go. This is your chance to own a piece of undefined racing history. The low reserve makes this an affordable project to drive and restore gradually. My loss your gain –selling for health reasons ---sorry I never got the chance to finish. Clear PA title in hand. CAR MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, OVEMBER 4, 015 AT 5 PM – I AM LEAVING FOR FLORIDA THE NEXT MORNING AND IF YOU DO NOT PICK THE CAR UP BY THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE IT UNTIL APRIL OF 2016 – PLEASE ACT ACCORDINGLY!
