Mechanically this is an extremely sound car for the age. I personally have driven it home from the auction where I purchased it without any trouble and wouldn't hesitate to drive her anywhere. In fact, t has PA inspection stickers valid on it until 9/2016! The engine runs strong and doesn't hesitate or miss at all. There are no oil or fluid leaks. The suspension is good and steers just fine down the road...a very solid car and handles just great. There is some usual amount of play in the steering, ut isn't really noticible while driving...only when parked the wheel seems to have more play in it. I have driven it for over 2 hours from the auction where I purchased it and it didn't overheat and all the gauges seem to work just fine too. The following work just fine as well: wipers/power windows/lights/turn signals/and heater. The oil was just changed prior to my purchase and very clear. The heat works but doesn't appear to be much range in the temperature control...it doesn't get really cold. Also, he speedometer works but the odometer doesn't work. When I bought it I was told by the dealer whos family owned it that it was beginning to go during their last few months of usage, nbsp; So, hile the milage reflects 112,365 it is not actual milage, ut I beleive it isn't too far over that. When I was driving it home it began to move but then stopped. From what I was told this is a pretty typical problem for these vintage Mercedes and I see Ebay has the replacement gears online for about 21.00. The brakes are extremely good and you can stop on a dime in the car. The lenses and lights are all clear...even the vanity lights still work as they should. Also, he previous dealer told me the entire muffler system has just been replaced (see the pictures). The transmission shifts as it should through all the speeds and without any slipping at all. The power antena works intermitently. Also, he after market radio powers up but no sound comes from the speakers. I haven't had time to check it out but would probably need to be replaced. There is a small plastic strip below the instrument cluster that appears missing and has a small gap in that location. The leather seats are in very good condition and no rips or excessive worn leather.
I couldn't take pictures of the soft top, ut it will need to be replaced or patched at sometime. The hardtop does come off and I had it off just once to look at the soft top...the metal frame operates and unfolds/folds and is in good condition. If I can, will try to take some pictures of the soft top in the next few days. The tires are almost new and have plenty of tread left on them (see pics). Also has the original Mercedes wheels with the car. I am starting the bidding low, ut please don't assume this initial bid reflects the value of this car! This would be a great car for any collector or someone who apprecitates vintage Mercedes. If you are a NYS resident I must collect sales tax at the time of paperwork. I will only charge an additional 21.00 if you are a NYS resident for inspection. If you are from out of NYS then I will not collect any tax. I will assist in shipping but must be paid in full before considering transport. Please send 100.00 as a deposit within 48 hours after the end of the sale. I know you will be happy with this car and I have 100% positive feedback, o bid with confidence. Please call or with any questions or if you would like to hear a video of the engine running and a walk around. 716-397-9513On Oct-21-15 at 11:31:22 PDT, eller added the following information:
