Description

This 1951 Mercedes 170 Va was shipped to the USA in 1994 and has been stored in the garage since. I purchased the car in Weinheim, Germany in about 1986 while serving there with the Department of Defense. The car has a paint job from that time and has not had any work since. There are places the paint is chipped and there are some bubbles etc. The front right fender has some damage that has been repaired with bondo from before I bought it. The Interior is pretty decent, o tears in the headliner and other details of the interior are as original. I don’t know how the seats are under the sheepskin covers. Speedometer reads in Kilometers and the Odometer reads 18411. I cannot verify the car's exact mileage.

It is missing the clock from the dashboard but the radio is there, owers up, ut does not work. Overhead light works. Some electrical switches do not work, or example the wipers, nd the cable pulls for the heat etc. Headlights, ail lights, orn ring controlled blinkers all work as does the horn.

The gas tank is rusty inside and leaks and the videos showing the car running were made using an auxiliary tank and siphon hose. More pictures and videos are available. Message me. Sometimes the car needs a shot of starter spray to fire up. The carburetor needs float valve attention as the car floods when sitting or at idle. Starter cranks fine with the new 6 volt battery. The brakes are not working as the wheel cylinders apparently need freeing, ut the master cylinder seems to hold pressure. Three tires hold air, ut one tire will go flat in about 4 months. Tire tread is worn. Spare tire mounted in trunk lid does not hold air. Frame and undercarriage is in very good condition with little signs of rust problems, s are the floors. The car has almost all details as original. The sale includes NOS exhaust system parts and a Catalog of Mercedes parts. (Unknown if supplier is still in business. The current exhaust system is in fine condition.)

Car is currently not registered or insured. Test driving of the car will not be possible for obvious reasons (NO BRAKES, O INSURANCE, O GAS TANK, O REGISTRATION.

Title is from Virginia, lear of liens and in my name.

I would require an immediate $250 non-refundable deposit via Pay Pal to hold the car and full payment of the balance in cash or cashier's check within 7 days of the close of the auction. You will need to arrange shipping to meet your requirements. The car must be removed within two weeks of the close of the auction.
