What makes 1973 Model so special, s that 1973 was the last year of Small Euro Bumpers being fitted on US-Spec R107 SL’s…1974 onward US models were fitted with less attractive big US spec safety bumpers!

1971 was the first year of R107 body style, nd R107 chassis of the 280,350,380,450 and 560SLs was one of the longest running production bodies in the Diamler-Benz AG's line spanning from 1971-1989!!

Although most R107s are extremely well built and collectable, he most desirable and collectable of the R107’s are the early production cars with its features – mainly short or “Euro” bumpers, nd higher horse-power than its latter cousins. It is also the first V8 powered two-seater to be built at the Stuttgart, ermany factory.

Now that the W113 230/250/280SL's have become priced out of sight, ere comes the early 450SL.

As recently as the mid 1990's, nd early 2000’s you could pick up a nice condition 1971 280SL Pagoda Roadster for around $20,000. Almost in the blink of an eye, hat's what a basket case now goes for - with good condition examples regularly selling north of $75k and more.

Part of what makes early 107 SL’s so desirable to Collectors and Mercedes enthusiasts is the increased U.S. emissions and safety requirements starting in 1974 causing later models to be fitted with special crash bumpers and emissions control systems resulting in reduced overall look, erformance and horse-power.

Beside more powerful engine, his beauty also features more elegant European style “short” bumpers, nd they make this Mercedes look absolutely stunning!

Documentation shows that this beauty was a 2 owner vehicle, nd love of its previous owners really reflects in its condition! It only has 64,200 documented and well cared miles

About the car:

Its very rare and desirable Light Ivory (paint code 623 – hellelfinbein) paint has a rich shine and luster, nd it makes this Beautiful German Roadster look stunning! Combined with the contrasting Red interior, here is not a lot of SL’s like this one on the road especially with such a rare and desirable color combination!

Chrome is in great condition, omplete with healthy luster, nd this beautiful roadster is a head turner and conversation piece everywhere it goes.

This car was always loved and garaged, o it is very solid, nd its undercarriage is all original, nmolested and most importantly it is rust free! Reason for being in such an amazingly solid condition, esides love and care this SL received throughout its lifetime, s that this Mercedes was Oregon car almost all of its life, ntil second owner moved to Mississippi in 2011.

Body is also very straight and solid, nd all doors, ood, nd trunk are operating with ease. It has been always garaged, ampered and kept away from rain and bad weather.

Factory VIN # stamping on the front radiator support is another sign of originality of this car (Please see pictures).

There is not a lot of 450SL’s out there in this solid and amazingly kept and preserved condition, specially after 42 years of life on the road!!

This SL comes with both soft top, nd the hard top! Black Canvas Soft top is in excellent condition, nd it is very easy to operate. Back Plastic windows are nice and clear!

Original Hard top is also in excellent condition, ncluding all original Sekurit glass, nd the headliner which is clean, nd rips and tears free!! Body number on the data card matches the number on the hard top! Very important when it comes to originality of these SL’s!

Its rare and very classy Original Red interior is in wonderful condition! Seats are in excellent condition, nd they are very supportive and comfortable!

Dash has NO cracks (VERY HARD TO FIND on the SL’s of this vintage!)

Power Windows work as they should, nd interior is complimented by its original WORKING Blaupunkt Radio! Just turn it on, nd let it take you through time!

Engine compartment is very neat without any signs of abuse. Even the original oil level sticker and Factory markings on the Power Steering Pump lid and Power Steering pulley are still present!

Automatic Transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through every gear. This German Roadster handles great at the high speeds, nd it is very comfortable.

Original steel wheels with Classic Mercedes-Benz Hub Caps are wrapped in four Brand New Whitewall Hankook tires, nd they make this car float on the road.

Air Condition works as it should, nd this car is ready for some topless fun!!!!

This beautiful roadster comes complete with all of its original books and manuals, riginal temporary registration card from the first owner who purchased it brand new in November of 1973, s well as its original tool set, eatly wrapped in its red canvas Mercedes pouch.
