I bought this car from an estate. It set under a carport for years. The old gentlemanthat had it was in failing health and was unable to work on the car. He passed away without finishing and his brother that was settling his estate, sold me the car, actuallythere weretwo 1965 Comets Caliente`s. One Black and one is Red. He could not find the title to the Red comet (It has a 4 speed manual transmission) So I bought the Black one at a higher price and he gave me theRed one too. I will do the same for you, If you want another red comet for a donor car. (It runstoo), This black one is in better shape and runs, It runs very well, the old man had the motor built up, It has headers and aperformance cam shaft, it does not Idle smooth, the 289 is fresh and does not leak oil at all ! I don`t know what was done internally on the rebuild, But I do know this,,I pulled it out of the carport, replaced the battery, and starter solenoid, and starter, poured gas down carb. and it fired up, Towed it to mechanics house, that Is an ASE Master, We changed the water neck, new thermostat and newwater pump, Radiator leaked replaced with new bigger aluminum radiator, then old fan did not fit anymore, installed electric fan, temp sensor, and relay, installed GM one wire alternator, took out old dual point distributer,(it comes with the car for buyer), installed a newHEI distributer, and newMSD wires on new spark plugs, Old holley Carb. that came with the car, was junk, Got a Eldelbrock carb installed rebuild kit in it, new base gasket, fuel pump was bad replace with new one and in line fuel filter too, gas tank leake, installed new tank and new sending unit and pick up, this made gas gauge work, replaced rubber flex lines on front and back brakes, replace brake shoes, put 15 inch Ford Ranger rims, they came with tires on them, The City of Rock Hil, SC has decided that I have too many cars and is making me sell some off, I don`t want to get rid of this car but, I have other things, that must be done and this is as far as I am going to take it, It is a ready to go Gasser, or a very solid car for full restore, the frame is all solid it has always been a southern car, the only real rust is where the battery, over the years has damaged the battery holding plate, and the floor pans need replaced, but I have already bought them and they come with the car also, I really want to impressupon you how strong the motor is in this car, and how fast it revs up, the automatic transmission work well and shifts great. I am told that the floor shifter is out of a mustang.Black paint is original and red interior is what factory installed in 1965.Remembe, I have the other red one that you can get also, If you interested in both, I canemail you pics of the red oneupon request, Thanks for you Interest
