For Sale is a 1953 Mercury Monterey 9 passenger Woody Wagon. This car has been refurbished to running and driving condition over the past year with repairs to starter, rakes, nd tune up. Previous owner had not driven since 1966. This car was purchased from the Ford factory in LA in 1953. It was parked in 1966 in a garage in LA and was recently pulled out and bought by me.
The interior, aint, eadliner, hrome, lassare all original and in amazing condition. The chrome has some surface pitting, ut is all there and ready for re-chrome. Side wood molding is all complete except for 1 piece on lower rear panel. All the lights work, ncluding the turn signals. All gauges except fuel are working. Radio works but may need to be rebuilt.
This car is registered and driving all over Southern Cal now. I still have the black plates with 1966 sticker. There is no rust on any of the sheet metal. Only the front floor mat has been replaced, nd even that is on the original jute floor mat underlayment. All other flooring, eat material, tc. is in good shape.
The original flat head has been replaced some time ago (Early 60's?) with a 1950 era Cadillac 331 cu in with 4 bbl and 3 speed manual floorshift. Runs strong and cool. Car will cruise on freeway at 65 mph all day. Tires are new bias belt wide whites bought in 1990 and are still virtually un-used.
This is a very unusual find in this condition, nd never fails to draw a crowd at shows.
Drive it or restore it. Either way, t is lots of fun.
