Frank Hollyfield purchased this '52MGTD in 1960, and we acquired it through the Estate after his death.

Back in the day, the car was convertedto Studebaker Champion 6 cylinder power with Borg Warners planetary overdrive.

this is one of the best drive systems available in that period. ( c1950)

No hack-job, this was a very professional installation of one of the Premiere Touring drive-trains of the Period,

making this TD a pleasure to drive at highway speeds, s well as around town.

The choice of Studebaker's " light Six " was very appropriate for TD's

since the motor and transmission fit quite well,

the added horsepower and torqueare at low rpm's, iving the car nice performance,

and Studebaker was the number one builder of Overdrive equipped cars at the time, using the well established and easily serviced Borg Warner transmissions and overdrives that had proven themselves over many years of service by nearly every US automaker.

In the mid 90's, when Frank was nearing 70, he had the car restored, ccording to many records that are with the car. Idon't know if the car was raced or hillclimbed in the 50's, ut it appears all period correct for the 1950's, epresents mid 50's automotive thinking well. I thinkit would be considered a welcome entrant by VSCCA and similar Vintage Organizations.A couple of old event tags come with the car

After completion, Frank acquired an Alabama Vintage Tag in 1998, nd

the current AlabamaRegistration Certificate and Plate come with the car,

making Exporting easy.

Thetow ba, hich was in common use back in the 1960's had not been removed when the picture was,and is included...

also includedis the front bumper, hown in other pictures.

Recently we have had the original front and rear over-riders re-chromed ( $320.00), nd they come with the car. Alsoa new master cylinder is on order, nd will come with the car.

The original steering wheel needs replacement, so do the after-market hub caps .

The car presents nicely, but it IS an older restoration, nd the paint is not Concours condition.
