Description

As life goes, need to offer 1969 MGB roadster for sale: VIN # GHN4U/169299G. This car is turnkey and ready to go. No work needed to drive. Please read the entire description and ask any questions before bidding. Send a message thru EBay or call me at 404-513-5635.

The MG has had an extensive refurbishment and is in great driver quality condition and has the desirable and correct black label overdrive gearbox. The engine number is 18GH-RWE-H-5814 (‘R’ in engine number indicates it came from factory with overdrive). The MG drives and runs great (see compression and oil pressure numbers below). I have receipts for the engine, lutch and gearbox being rebuilt in 2007. I don’t think the previous owner drove the car very much, nd I haven’t either.

I have heard from the previous owner (also here in metro Atlanta), e said the car has about 2000 miles on it since the engine rebuild in 2007.

The MG drives and handles as it should, ounds, reat. It has had a complete repaint, ew chocolate brown interior with leather seats. The convertible top is in great shape. Good tires, ood brakes. The dash has been replaced with a 1975 year dash. It's a straight bolt in affair and the 1969 gauges fit the 1975 dash. The big advantage is you have a glovebox (which the 1969 pillow dash did not have). I used the dash vent area to mount one of the stereo speakers; the other is in the passenger footwell. Spare has new tire, nstrument gauges have improved lighting (see photo link below). This MG has an aluminum bonnet. Everything works as it should except the odometer (speedometer works).

Keep in mind this car is 47 years old and is not perfect.

Compression: # 1- 105, 2 – 115, 3 – 105, 4 – 115. Oil pressure at idle with engine warmed up is 55 PSI.

Below are lists of items replaced by myself and previous owner. Note that some things (e.g. wire wheels) are big ticket items.

Items replaced by previous owner:
  • Convertible top frame
  • Suspension rebuild: Visual inspection shows all front new bushings, ie rod ends, teering rack boots, wivel axles. Rear straps. Front shocks look like replacements.
  • Engine and gearbox rebuild (receipts available).
  • Brake and clutch master, ront calipers.
  • Wire wheel rims
  • Fuel tank
Partial list of items I replaced:
  • Rebuild carburetors
  • SU fuel pump, ending unit
  • Water pump and hoses
  • Alternator, tarter
  • Front coil springs
  • Oil cooler and pressure hoses
  • Wiring harness (good quality used 1969 complete harness)
  • Windshield and related seals
  • Vent window and door seals
  • Door / trunk locks and keys
  • Seat covers (chocolate brown leather), eat foams and supports
  • Carpet (matching dark brown)
  • Interior panels and door cappings (all matching brown, oor panels and cappings are leather)
  • Distributor
  • Numerous cables (e.g. accelerator, hoke, eat control)
  • Minor electrical (e.g. flasher, use box, arious switches)
  • Wiper arms and blades
  • Under hood insulation

Body: Car was originally British racing green, ut had been repainted yellow then red. Entire body chemically stripped to bare metal and painted single stage urethane Old English white as a bare shell. I replaced both front fenders with 1969 originals, hich had previously been repaired with lower 12” panels. I also replaced both outer rocker covers and doglegs. Since floors were still in fairly decent shape, welded (and bonded) new floors over originals, estoring seat front mounting points.

While the following items were not refurbished, hey are generally in presentable condition and can easily enough be replaced: Bumpers (appear to be originals not reproductions). Radiator grill (has a few tiny dings). Door and fender mirrors. Wire wheel knock offs.
