SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE CAR PARTS AND ACCESSORIES Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: ANOTHER BARN FIND. This is a no reserve auction and the MGB will be sold regardless of price. on or off auction. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This particular auction is for an original authentic. good running. matching numbers 1965 MGB roadster as shown. Includes a British Motors Heritage Certificate authenticating it's matching numbers. It is being sold as a restoration project. Considered to be one of the best years for the MGB with it's classic wrinkled finish steel dash and 5 main bearing engine. Manufactured on March 29. 1965. Serial number G-HN3-L/59994. Engine number 18GB-U-H/12439. All numbers certified as being the original ones the car left the factory with. Original colors are Tartan red exterior with a black interior and red convertible top. Original factory equipment was 60 spoke wire wheels. heater. black tonneau cover. whitewall tyres. ashtray. miles per hour speedometer and foldaway convertible top bows. Obviously has had good care over the past 50 years. It will need normal restoration work as noted and shown. I will answer all email questions and take additional photos of any specific area. ENGINE: Runs very well. smoothly and quietly with excellent oil pressure and compression - no smoke and no noises. Starts and runs as normal with the ignition key. It was run for 1/2 hour on an external gas tank. The original gas tank and fuel lines were bypassed to save time and trouble. Running temperature was a nice cool 175 degrees for the duration. Carburetors were removed. cleaned and adjusted. TRANSMISSION: Standard original MGB 4 speed. No overdrive. Goes through all 5 gears easily just moving the shift lever. This was a good driving car when put in storage many years ago so the transmission should be good but cannot be guaranteed as such because the car has not been driven recently due to no brake or clutch hydraulics. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original paint. Very original and looks complete. Some rust holes in the brake/clutch master cylinder mounting area where water has sat. Original oil cooler and undamaged radiator. Horns are intact. Hood prop rod has broken off it's mounting bracket. Car has NO battery. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Original paint. Very nice and solid. EXTERIOR SHEET METAL. BODY PANELS: All panels are nice and straight with some minor rust areas as shown. Cannot see any prior accident damage. Doors open and close very well - no sag or other problems. Underside of doors are solid with some scale surface rust on the very edge where the door skin overlaps into the door bottom. The hood is aluminum. The outer rockers and fender bottoms look solid except for some small areas as shown. EXTERIOR BODY PARTS: All original and intact. The original factory chrome is old driver quality. PAINT: Looks like it was repainted once over the original factory Tartan red paint and is in poor condition. GLASS: Glass is all good - nothing broken. Windshield has typical wiper blade abrasions. Door windows wind go up and down easily. CHASSIS: The unibody subframe is straight with no apparent accident damage with moderate scale surface rust as shown. INTERIOR: Both seats are still bolted to the original floor and are secured solidly - no spongy feeling at all. Don't believe the seats have ever been removed. The floors look to be quite solid with the exception of limited area rust through as shown. Smaller area patch panels would be a good fix for the rust that is there. Full floor pans can of course be easily installed but are not really needed. Both battery boxes are intact and solid with no rust. DASH AREA: Nice visual feature. The early MGB's have one of the prettiest and most functional dashboards of any sports car. Gauges are original and intact. Speedometer shows 37728 total miles. Trip meter works. I know the oil pressure gauge works but am not sure about the other gauges. UPHOLSTERY: Original upholstery needing to be redone. Original folding convertible top bows are included. AIR CONDITIONING: None. TIRES & WHEELS: Five (5) good original 60 spoke wire wheels and nice original brass knockoffs - Kleber V12 165SR14 tires had good treads but of course are petrified and need replacing. EXHAUST: Old - useable for now. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: Complete - nothing missing. All brake hydraulics will need rebuilding or replacing. MISCELLANEOUS: A straight. well designed car with excellent appeal. The classic lines of the early MGB's will continue to keep them climbing in price - not too sure about the newer ones. This is a 50 (fifty !!) year old used classic sports car - it is as described and shown and is not guaranteed. It can be used as it stands with a moderate amount of work or completely restored. PAPERWORK: No title. There is NO TITLE. Georgia does not issue titles to any car older than 1976. A bill of sale will go with the car. Period. The car has been inspected by the Georgia State police certifying it has not been stolen. FACTORY ID PLATES: The Vehicle identification ID plate and engine number plate are intact. These are the original "matching numbers" plates. INSPECTION OF CAR: Inspections are welcome and encouraged at any time before the auction ends. SHIPPING: The car will roll and steer but is not driveable. There is no battery. I can help with loading the car. Shipping or collecting the car is the buyers responsibility. If necessary I can arrange it or assist with arrangement. PAYMENT & BIDDING: Contact me if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid will be cancelled. A $500 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via wire transfer. priority or overnight mail with a bank cashiers check. Full payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. IN ADVANCE. BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the car to see if you like it. When the auction is over. it is your car and payment is due at the close of the auction per these instructions. The car is at my home and can be left here for up to 30 days at no charge before collection. After that I have the option of charging a storage fee. In my experience most of the cars sold on ebay are a wholesale bargain. I have sold approximately 20 cars on ebay and they were all a bargain.
