Description

Up for sale is a 1952 MGTD Black/Red/White impressive concours level restoration with a sharp eye on factory originality, eriod correctness, eliability, odern drivability and perfection of material finishes. Starting from an excellent condition original driver, n 2007 to 2008 the car received a no expense spared restoration and has less than 2,500 miles since completion. Only the best parts available from Moss Motors were used in this stunning restoration.Compare the rest, his one seems to bethe nicest MG TD currently for sale in the United States at any price.
The little TD is an award winning, and made, oving piece of automotive sculpture. The car was chosen as number 1 of the top 10 cars at the Aubrey TX Sonic Sock Hop 50's car show on June 27th 2015.TheMGtook first place in its class at the McKinney Texas Red, hite and Boom Car Show on 4th of July 2015 250 cars and 8,000 visitors. This TD won first place in its class at the Denton TexasLake City Misfits car show on July 18 2015.
This TD has been in a continuing state of restoration, pgrades and refinements since its restoration. The MG's surfaces are all very clean and highly polished. The TD's wood, eather, inyl, loth, arpet, hrome, teel, luminum, rass, opper, lass, lastic, ubber and painted finishes are all near flawless. The exterior fit and finish are all in perfect alignment. The black body welting and bonnet seals are a work of art. The interior is stunning, ed leather, lack carpet and white convertible top, ide curtains and tonneau cover that is near flawless.
All parts on the car are ether new, ebuilt or restored to very high standard of quality and all executed with incredible workmanship. Every item on the car is working correctly (except the clock) including all the electrical items attached to the cars new factory correct wiring harness. All the chrome is original to the car and was re-plated and is now like new. The high quality multilayer single stage enamel paint job is near perfect, roviding a mirror like reflections at every angle. The paints surface quality also extends to the engine compartment and underside of the car. All the carspainted finishes are exact matches of the 1952 MGfactory correct color palette.

This special TD embodies all of the most desiredperformance features while still maintaining the factory correct profile and appearance. The drivetrain is all numbers matching original to the car. The engines brass plate is # 16780 and it matches the tool box brass plate. The drivetrain has many impressive internal enhancements that were made to allow the car to keep pace with modern traffic. This TD now has the performance as what you would expect from a MGA that came five years later
The enginewas professionally rebuilt in 2007. It now has the correct seals for modern gas, to 1 compression ratio, orted & polished heads, arger valves andpistons, better cam, alanced and blue printed. The engine now has a possible 68 HP vs 54 HP of the original engine. The oiling system was also enhanced with better designed oil pump. The oil gauge reads 80 PSI when cold and 60 to 70 PSI when at normal operating temperature. The crank received the modern rear Scroll Seal from Moss Motors, o it is not a big oil leaker. The car is running on the original Tecalemit oil canister that, believe adds to the engines originality. The carburetors were just rebuilt and have nice chrome carburetor air cleaners. The generator and the voltage regulator were recently re-manufactured, ew Lucas starter and new SU fuel pump. The car is still running the stock point system that I just replaced along with spark plugs wires, park plugs, ap and rotor.
To complete the engines show quality appearance, G red engine paint, olished finned aluminum valve cover and side plate covers all with red MG logos. All the correct hoses, hose clamps, riginal type fan belt. The engine has beautiful braded steel lines, rass fitting and copper pipes all with polished patinas.
The MG's cooling system has been enhanced and is running a clean stock radiator with an electric cooling fan, oss Motors water pump and modified original thermostat set to open at 70 degrees Celsius and the restrictor plate, edline wetter water. I drove the car last week on a hot, 5 degree day on the freeway at 3800 RPM for 35 miles and the temperature gage stayed under 90 degrees Celsius.
The rear end was professionally rebuilt and converted to the desirable 4.3:1 rear end gearing that allows the car to maintain freeway speeds without having to over burden the engine. The car achieves a respectable 3500 RPM @ 60 MPH, 750 RPM @ 65 MPH and 4,000 RPM @ 70 MPH, ossible 100 MPH @ 6,000 RPM. At 70 mph the original rear end gearing would be around 5250 RPM at 70 MPH!

The original 4 speed transmission was professionally rebuilt in 2007 and shifts nicely, as no usual noises, ot to difficult to make perfect shits. I especially like the 2nd gear power band and the smooth down shifts from 4th to 3rd and from 3rd to 2nd. Sorry, ou will need to make a complete stop to shift into first.

The cars steering and suspension are like new and feel good in the corners and at freeway speeds. When driving briskly you get good smooth feed back to the steering wheel and no vibrations. The new modern 15-165-80 radials help a lot.

The original breaking system in this TD is all in order and like new with very good pedal feel. The brakes stop well on emergency breaking, ery straight and full control until lock up. The car stops quickly with no pedal fade after multiple hard brakes. I just lubed and adjusted the fly away emergency brake system as well.
I have just changed all fluids with fresh. 20w50 engine oil and filter, ew type synthetic DOT 4 brake fluid, 0w gear oil in the rear end and 90w120 gear oil in the transmission. ATF in the dash pots, 0w motorcycle fork oil in the rack & pinion and the oil in the lever shocks, 0% mix of water and green antifreeze and wetter water. I also lubed all the Zert fittings, o it is ready to be driven and enjoyed
Overall the 63 year car is like new, as no excessive movement or unwanted noises or raddles. The car is surprisingly fast reliable and corners well. Everything on the car works well and is in near perfect cosmetic shape. To replicate this 1952 MG TD in today's world you would spend countless hours and way more than I am asking. This Mg TD represents a great collector value today and will only increase in the future.
