Description

1963 MGB Roadster

I you are looking at this car than it is likely you already know why these very early pull handle MGBs are the most collectible and sought after of all the MGBs. And for good reason. they are simply the coolest of them all. They are the closest relative to MGA. They are the purest. This is one of the earliest B's I have ever seen and in incredible straight, olid, amp;original condition.

This is an excellent example of the most desirable of the MGB series. Fully and professionally restored about ten years ago it still looks fresh and new. I am a life time MG collector and have personally owned over 30 MGs from MGTC to MGB's and everything in between. I have restored them and bought them fully restored. I feel like I know these cars as well as anyone. I have driven countless miles in my MGTC, GAs, amp; MGBs. I have driven this car about 300 miles and can say from experience it drives as well as an MGB can and better than most. I would love to keep this car indefinitely. It is the mate to my 62 MGA.However there is only so much room and time and too many MGs.

There is no rust or damage anywhere on this car and no evidence of any damage or rust repairs. The floors, runk, rame, ockers, enders all look as solid as new. The fit lines are all very straight and tight with a slight exception of the hood. It is slightly off and can be seen in the photos. I thin it could likely be easily remedied with a little patience.

These early pull handle B's have been appreciating steadily fro the past several years and are getting hard to find in this condition at a reasonable price. This car really needs nothing to enjoy or show. While it is not a concourse 100 point restorationit is a very respectable high quality driver restoration. The engine and transmission were said to be rebuiltduring the extensive restoration. The way it runs and drives supports this. The one and only repaint has held up very well and still shines like new. The striking red interior, ith white piping is in like new condition. The seats were completely redone with new foam and arevery comfortable. The metal dash is completely original and all the gauges work as they should. It sports it's original Motorola radio which does not appear to work but looks very cool. It powers on so I think it too could me made to work with some time and patience. It could be something as simple as the speaker or antenna.

It starts right up and runs very strong. It has had the original carbs professionallyremoved and replaced with a more reliableand robust weber within the past year. The original SUcarbs are included and were rebuilt and working well when removed. This is a common upgrade for owners who like to drive their cars and want a more reliable and powerful set up. It runs great in any heat and coldand never gets too hot. It holds excellent oil pressure in all gears at any temp. It has no problem running on the highway at 75 MPH with traffic and some power leftand I find the brakes to be excellent. They stop the car straight with no pull and are firm. The only criticism I would make is that the down shift into 2nd gear needs to be at or below 15 MPH. Common on these but some are better than others. These are no different than my MGA's. While it does drip a few drops of oil after a long drive, t does not burn any or smoke at all. The right turn signal will not always stay on. It works fine but needs to be held on. The left works fine. All in all a very well sorted solid honest early MGB ready to take you down your favorite country road this fall. The topappears to be almost new. As does the half tonneau cover. It includes the originalremovable top frame and tonneau bars. In the trunk you will find thematching wire spare and proper jack in it's original canvas bag and matching canvas bag for the tonneau coverbars.
