Through the following photos and descriptions (there are many as there is nothing to hide here), 'll attempt to show how original and unmolested this 1971 MG - MGB is.

Please view all the photos and read the descriptions ... then decide for yourself if this the MGB for you.

Let's start with - chrome bumper MGBs are the collectable ones ... plain and simple.
They are the ones that will hold their value over time.

Note: From Wikipedia - To meet US DOT impact regulations, 974 US models saw the chrome bumper over-riders replaced with oversized rubber ones, icknamed "Sabrinas" after the well-endowed British actress. In the second half of 1974 the chrome bumpers were replaced altogether, hich are considered 1974.5 models. A new, teel-reinforced black rubber bumper at the front incorporated the grille area as well, iving a major restyling to the B's nose, nd a matching rear bumper completed the change.

New US headlight height regulations also meant that the headlamps were now too low. Rather than redesign the front of the car, ritish Leyland raised the car's suspension by 1-inch (25 mm). This, n combination with the new, ar heavier bumpers resulted in significantly poorer handling.

That said, ets move on with this 1971 chrome bumper MGB ...

The 1971 MGB being offered here is a two owner car ... garage kept when not in use.

"The MGB was originally released in 1962 by the 'British Motor Corporation' to satisfy demand for a more modern and comfortable sports car.'

Note: The only rust issue on this '71 MGB is on the rocker panel just forward of the right rear tire. It's a little 'punky there' but not where you could poke your finger through ... perhaps a screw driver if you poked hard enough.

'Moss Motors' has a patch kit for this that is quite inexpensive and easy to install.

Otherwise it's a very solid example of an un-restored 'B'.

Good solid sill panels.
Good rocker panels inside and out except one small area where noted above.
Good jacking points on both sides.
Good trunk with no rust issues whatsoever ... includes spare tire and carpet.
Door bottoms are both good with no rust.
Good solid chassis - unibody construction.

From any angle these MGBs just look right ... the quintessential sports car in every way.

Titled in Wisconsin but not an everyday driver, y any means, with just a tad over 2,000 miles / year of use.

Even for the ultra hardy, n MGB isn't too practical for Wisconsin winters.

'Blaze Red' - British Leyland color code # BLVC16

This MGB has a very solid chassis with near zero rust issues.
Hard to find in an unrestored British sports car ... especially in a 44 year old British shorts car.

Note light dent just forward of the tail light lens.

MG's 'Rostyle' wheels were the standard issue for this year. - they are original and in good condition.

Can't you just see yourself in this 'B' ... ready to rumble.

Can't you just picture yourself in this 'B' ... sports cap and scarf - ready to rumble.

The everything in the engine bay is in 'good nick' as Brit car aficionados often like to say.

Dual SU-HS4 carbs mounted to the 4-cylinder 1,789cc inline overhead valve engine.

All this makes for some zippy acceleration ... it's tons of fun, eally.

All is good tune and ready to roll out. Just set the choke, wist the key and it springs to life - every time.

This and the following three photos show some of the various factory badging
All correct and matching numbers as it well should be.

Now for the interior ... all original and never moused with.

Leather wrapped three spoke steering wheel.

88,907 actual (2,020 miles per year on average / 44 years)

All original 'British Leyland' AM/FM radio.
The radio lights up but has no sound - might not be connected to the speaker.

The courtesy light works well.

After-market 'Amco' walnut shift knob - coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission.

The transmission shifts well with no problems whatsoever.

The seats have their original vinyl upholstery and are quite comfortable.

The driver's seat has a 3"-4" tear in the outside seatback bolster.
This tear in the bolster can be easily repaired without the expense of replacing the entire seating upholstery.
Any competent auto upholstery shop can do this at a nominal cost.

Seat belts for both seats.

The black carpet is faded from age and can either be re-colored with spray dye or replaced with a new carpet kit from 'Moss Motors' or the like.

The 'Amco' trunk mounted baggage rack is quite handy for weekend trips.

Note: At the upper right of this photo you can see where the paint is crackled or alligatored.
This is the same for most portions of the body that face up.

It looks good from 10' and could be driven as-is for years but will need a re-spray sometime in the future.

The after-market cloisonné wing mounted badges are a nice plus.

The marched set of 4 radial tires are quite new with less than 1,000 miles in them so far.

'Goodyear - Integra' tires in the correct size of P175/70R14.

This last group of photos simply show various details of the car.

I believe they go a long way in showing all the things that are right with the car.

Please take the time to look over the 'sold' listings here on eBay ... this will help you determine values for these chrome bumper MGBs. It's a great source of information and will help you make an informed purchase.

The various chrome bumpers and the like are all in excellent condition with no pitting or rust issues.

Both the cloth top and tonneau cover for this MGB are original to the car.

The are both 'long in the tooth' at this point (44 years old) and should be replaced with new from 'Moss Motors' or one of the many MGB parts suppliers that can be found on the net.

All in all, his is a nice example of an un-restored 1971 MGB ... a true survivor.

One could drive it for years as-is or replace the top and tonneau, epair the seat, dd a carpet kit and a re-spray of the paint. With this done it would increase in value considerably.

Well restored examples of chrome bumper MGBs now command $20,000 - $25,000 or more.
These values seem to be just going up and up as fewer decent examples are found on the market.

This MGB could be either a simple fun 'driver' as-is, father-son restoration project, r something for the professional that wants to take it up a couple of levels and sell it at a tidy profit.

You decide what's best for you. I'll be happy to help I any way I can.
