Description

For sale is a 1986 Nissan 300ZX with 102632 miles. This is an extremely well-kept car and it was a one- owner vehicle until I purchased it last summer. I have put just a couple hundred miles on it myself. I was in high school when this generation Z was introduced and I liked them back then and still like them today.

Let me do my best to describe this car and how I came to own it. I own a small automotive collision shop and the original owners were customers of mine and they had bought a new car and wanted to get rid of this one. They are the kind of couple that did not want to mess with the hassle of selling it so they approached me. Once I saw how clean and nice it was I knew it was going home with me. The interior is like the day it was built with the exception of the drivers seat belt buckle missing a very small piece (see pic) and the tops of the door panels are a little sun faded. The exterior is straight and clean with all original paint with the exception of the right quarter panel and part of the rear bumper. The quarter panel has been refinished up to the pinstripe and has a paint issue where the body line is. This repair was most likely done many years ago and the paint has shrunk a little in the corners of the body contour. I have been in the collision industry for 32 years so I am describing this as best I can. The paint on this quarter panel is good except for these 2 spots which are a little bigger than a quarter (see pic) . I am certain it is not rust underneath just shrunk and released in the corners a little. I have never done any body work on this car. I DID NOT buy this car wrecked just to fix it up and sell! I got this thing in EXCELLENT condition. It certainly qualifies as a garage queen.

I went ahead and replaced the timing belt water pump and all the other belts right when I bought it. Since it had 102XXX miles on it it was due for a timing belt as routine maintenance. I also replaced the battery. One of the rear shocks was seeping a little so I replaced those. I do not have the original records on it but I am sure this car was maintained VERY well. The original owner gave me 3 new Nissan oil filters for it as that is the only filter they used. Yes they actually went to the dealer to get oil filters!

The A/C works as does everything else. It has power locks power windows a 2 stage power antenna AM/FM radio with tape deck (have not tried the tape deck) cruise control and an air compressor under the seat that allows you to adjust the pressure in the seat as well as the lumbar. This car also talks to you and tells you when the door is open lights are on low fuel and maybe others. I never even vacuumed this interior. It is exactly as it was when I bought it which is nearly perfect.

The tires are nearly new I would say 90% plus. It runs and drives good probably just about like it did when it was new. There is a rear window louver that I think was an option and it does make a little rattling noise while driving. It can be easily removed if desired but I kept it on because I like the look and it has probably helped keep the rear interior in such pristine condition. It has been kept in my garage since I have owned it and the bottom of the tires get a little flat spotted from sitting. As I said I have only put a couple hundred miles on it. When I do drive it there is a vibration for a little while until the tires get a little use.

This may not be the best 300ZX out there but it is the nicest one of this generation I have ever seen or will ever see. I don't know that I have ever seen a car this age in this good of condition.

The worst things about this car are:

*A small area of damage (1/2 inch) in the windshield lower left. The windshield is original.

*The seat belt piece as mentioned

*The wheels are clear coated aluminum and not perfect

If you are looking for a 300ZX that is perfect in every way or has been restored this one is not it. This car was used but is in spectacular condition especially considering it's age. There are some chips that have been touched up here and there but all are very small.

I have never sold a car on eBay before but this is one that is way above run-of-the-mill. I am in no way a car salesman but I feel this car deserves national attention because of it's condition. Please don't bid if you are not serious about paying. I am a busy person and don't have time for bidders that are not serious. I have done the best I can to describe this car accurately. I have 100% positive feedback for a reason and I don't want an unsatisfied buyer.

If there are any photos in particular that you would want please just ask. Sorry but I just realized that I forgot the under-hood pics! I will do my best to answer all questions.

It was brought to my attention that the photos say 2006. These were taken Sunday May 17th ( the week before I posted it). It was an old camera with dead batteries and I simply forgot to set the date and time. Sorry!
