RESERVE LOWERED!!! CAR WILL SELL!!
1968 Oldsmobile 442 (344 vin) I bought back in 2003 and it has been my driver for a long time. The car is cool and gets lot's of looks and is a blast to drive! This car is a nice paint job away from being stunning! It is not prefect but I will list everything to the best I can!
Exterior 442 Hardtop Coupe originally from California. Body is fairly stock other then Transmission tunnel was modified to fit T56 manual transmission and rear fender lips were rolled and smoothed to tuck 20" wheels in when air ride is down. Car had a lower end 2 stage paint job that is showing it's age now. It was done in 2004 by a shop now out of business and they never wet sanded the paint and did not add the factory stripe so I added it with the vinyl decal stripe. Also the car has a few chips in the paint along the door edge and the bottom of the fender are starting to show rust and a small bubble in the door.
Interior is Bucket Seats that was all re done in 2004 using PUI materials and went with the factory pearl white interior scheme. Seat Plastics were all replaced with reproductions too. Headliner is crème white and armrests were dyed. The carpet needs to be replaced due to not fitting after the transmission tunnel was modified larger to accommodate the T56 manual 6 speed transmission. It also has reproduction kick panel speakers and 6x9 in rear shelf with a aftermarket radio under dash. The Interior has a few flaws like a a"4" missing from the glovebox and a crack in the dash that needs to be fixed and the speedometer does not work due to the T56 transmission not having a mechanical drive for the cable. (needs electronic conversion)
Supension Wheels Tires and Brakes
Baer Track kit with 13" disc brakes in front and 11 in rear with new lines, aster and proportioning valve installed in 2005 (stops on a dime!) AirBagit.com Air Ride system with 4 bags 3/8 lines and a easy to use Plug and Play box in the trunk to control it all. I also got the optional tubular control arms so they bolt in place. And the setup was allighned at ride height. Air ride does leak down if left at ride height for a long period of time so I drop it everytime I park it. Wheels were custom built Boyd Coddington 2 piece wheels style 2 tone with the brushed center 19x8 in front and 20x10 rear with no curb rash but front wheels have a few small dings from pot holes but do not affect performance (they are billet You can dead blow dents straight if you ever damage one) Tires are 245 35 19 in front with good tread and the rears are 275 35 20 they are down to wear bars. The tires are fine but just getting old (installed 2005)
Drivetrain
2004 LS1 and M12 T56 six speed maual from GTO all in stock form (very reliable) This complete setup only had 26 thousand miles when it was swapped in to the car in 2010. It idles perfect starts right up cruises down the highway runs high 12's in the quarter mile and gets over 20mpg on the highway! It has edelbrock long tube stepped headers 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 with 3" collectors to 3" true dual exhaust all the way back with Pypes 442 3" tips. New stock has tank with comp engineering sump welded in and all braided lines from 255 pump to regulator and the return back to tank. All the factory sensors like Mass Air meter and temp sensors are left stock on engine along with tune and factory computer so the car can adjust for altitude changes and such. Just drove a 500 mile round trip to Hot August nights Reno in this! The car has a Hurst shifter with white ball and the factory clutch with hydraulic slave cylinder used. The rear end is a 71 olds 442 10 bolt (8.5 ring gear with bolt in axles) with 4.10 gears True Track Posi and new seals ect (it does howl a bit on highway) The radiator is a factory GM radiator with dual fans on it. The wiring harness was made by Techrods and is very clean and well labled for easy installation.
Stereo was done not to be a boombox down the road but to sound good and have some bass. It has kick panel speakers 2 6x9 and 1 12" subwoofer in trunk. If you have any questions I will answer as best as I can!
