Description

This is a wonderful example of the transition from the '50's styling excesses to the clean lines of the '60's. This is a large car with a huge 394 4 Barrel V8 that boasts 315 horsepower. Oldsmobile's top engine, which this car has, was 4 cubic inches bigger than the Cadillac engine! It is a long, low and very wide car at 80.6 inches in width. This car was repainted a few years ago in the original Shell Beige and Cordovan color combination. The older repaint shows well, though it does have two small rust holes in the splash pan below the rear bumper. This is a common problem on these and is easily repaired. The interior was reupholstered in the correct NOS fabric. The dash pad is in mint condition. The Tuxedo carpet is near perfect and the car even has the original floor mats! The "Safety Spectrum" Speedometer works perfectly (thermometer style that changes color as you go faster). The Safety Sentinel speed buzzer and light still work, as does the original tube AM radio with rear speaker. The engine was rebuilt prior to my purchase, so I am unsure of the actual miles on the engine. It doesn't smoke or leak anything and runs and drives as new. It has the softest, smoothest ride I have ever felt in a car! Since I have had it, I replaced the motor mounts and rebuilt the original carburetor and replaced and customized a modern battery to look like the original. The original choke works perfectly. It has 5 new BF Goodrich Silvertown bias ply tires in the correct 2 1/4" width whitewall design. Unfortunately, the AC compressor is seized, but I do have an original unseized A5 compressor that needs a rebuild. It will go with the car if I get a fair price. This Olds is being offered at a very reasonable price. I took on a rather costly project and need the funds for it. Don't let this one pass you by. It is a major head-turner.
