Up for auction is my 1958 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight 2-door hardtop. This car was recently purchased out if Nevada, and is a very nice solid example of a dry climate car. This 88 is very solid, on top and underneath. I have recent receipts for paint (2015) and also receipts from 2015 for brake and front suspension work. The interior was also done in 2015 and it is original material, done in a correct fashion. New carpeting, side glass, and weather striping was also installed.
This 88 has a smooth running 371 CID V8 engine and an automatic transmission. It has factory power brakes and power steering; both of which work well. The rear bumper is in good shape, and may be the original plating which has some scratches, naturally. The front bumper has been re plated and it looks great. The trim is in good shape, some light pitting which you can hardly see on taillight ornaments, and interior dash chrome; very acceptable for a driver quality car.
The side body molding and trim is excellent, very nice and straight. The doors shut well and do not have to be slammed. The jams of the car are what appears to be the original paint, which is a little lighter shade of sunset glow than the new finish. The hood insulation appears to be original as well as the trunk matting; which has seen better days. The hood and trunk light are still functional. 3 of the 4 headlights are still T3 headlights. The car runs very good and drives nice. The braking system works very good for a car this old and of this size, it really stops well.
I have not successfully heard the radio work. The cigarette lighter, horn, dummy gauges are functional. The odometer #’s are very hard to read for some reason, with that said I do not know the actual miles. Please feel free to ask any questions, send an inspector or come take a look yourself.
